    It saved my old projector.

Modern computers no longer have VGA outputs and my old favorite Mitsubishi projector only has composite, video and video inputs. The easy part is that it's plug-n-play. No additional settings or software are required. This adapter brought him back to life. Thank you!

But will not work for Rack KVM Switches

Works as expected but not for DIY Rack Boxes for use with Rack KVM Switch. While it works great for initial (loss) testing, after a while (almost certain power saving modes) it throws my triple kvm switch into dumb mode! had to replace hdmi with dsub instead :( startech.com products are great though, so I threw them in the "dongle" box to save me in the future! :)

Worth the price in Computers & Accessories

Highly recommended over the cheaper versions. I bought it to connect my laptop to a refurbished monitor. First I bought a cheap one, but it didn't work. I've found that many people are unable to adjust the settings required for the second screen, but this cable can run at different speeds. I'm sure I'm technically ok but this cable is worth the money and now my monitor is working great.

Works great on Manjaro i3 (Linux), the only operating system.

Works great on Manjaro i3 (Linux), the only OS I've used it with. I have a monitor connected to digital video in a laptop and another monitor connected to a Startech adapter. It's good when 3 monitors work on one laptop. It takes some work to set it up because you have to install some packages manually, but it works. I had a little problem for a while and the monitor got lost on startech but after a few updates it came back.

Product falls apart fits computers and accessories

I bought this item to take to work on the way in case I need a presentation adapter. Upon opening the package, the product fell apart - a plastic sheet holding the insides fell out. Since I needed this item I tried to snap the plastic piece in place and attach the adapter. Unfortunately it didn't work. Luckily a member of staff had an adapter that I could borrow. My poor planning of buying an item and not using it soon enough; Now I can no longer return the item. It was never used as it fell…

    Works exactly as I expected

This unit, when connected to my HP Pavilion laptop, does exactly what I wanted it to do: it converts VGA to VGA to -Composite/S-Video converter out for years and whatnot for my defiantly non-HDMI TV. And I need an audio output: Pavilion disables its own headphone output (as well as its own speakers) when an HDMI cable is plugged in. I tried this with a Roku 3 but the screen froze during activation (which never completed) even when I used a 2.1A 5V USB charger to power the device take care of…

"No power supply required. " Well, something like that.

"No power adapter required". Sort of like that. We bought this to replace a broken adapter in one of our courses. It's little used, but the projector has been reported to flicker on several occasions during classes. On multiple devices, I've been able to confirm that the laptop loses connection with the projector, causing Windows to re-detect the video output device. Speaking to Startech tech support, I was told that this sounds like an issue when attempting to connect a USB to microUSB cable…

    • Basically OK, but...

m Updating my reviews. The problem I was trying to solve was connecting 3 monitors to an Evga GTX 760 graphics card, one of which went through a VGA KVM. The problem is that after installing the VGA/Analog drivers, the signal is disabled when a digital (HDMI and/or DVI-D) monitor is connected. So you need to use some kind of digital to analog converter. Windows looks at the signal from your monitor to decide what can be displayed and of course periodically checks for monitor changes to enforce…

Closer, but still not the same.

I started StarTech.com DVI2VGAE to connect one of 3 monitors on my GeForce GTX760 to my KVM. (The GTX760 doesn't seem to like having analog and digital hooked up at the same time.) DVI2VGAE worked fine until I switched KVM, whereupon the 760 switched monitors and reconfigured ALL the displays. This happens when connected to the DVI or HDMI ports. The HD2VGAE2 doesn't have this problem, but it lacks the crisp DVI2VGAE video conversion, making it too blurry to be used as a 1920x1080 main display.

What I need for good HDMI to VGA adapters

I bought a new laptop without a VGA port. I didn't think much about it until I started using it on a monitor that doesn't have an HDMI port. When the product arrived I plugged it in and it worked great on my home monitor which has both VGA and HDMI inputs. I have a second home and when I connected the adapter to this monitor it went beyond the horizontal and vertical controls. I've tried everything I can think of and nothing has worked. Some icons went off the screen and the screen settings…
