I spent some time with this product before writing a review. I'm honestly no pro, but with this device it's very easy to understand what's where. Can't say much about the accuracy, but so far I haven't had a single incident with nails or screws I've used based on this scanner. It's also nice how it remembers the location of the bolt under the wall and uses arrows to tell you where to move it.

Simple and reliable. Operates on a 9V battery (not included) and has a low battery indicator. Ideal for use at home on various surfaces. Follow the included instructions to get the best results. It can find wooden and metal stands, as well as electrical wires. Automatically turns off when the button on the side is not pressed. Has about 3 seconds of calibration each time you use it.

A very well built viewfinder with a solid body. Easy to use, but initial pre-sweep calibration takes a little longer than other finders. I recommend making a few extra passes before drilling to find the exact center. Used it to install a floating shelf on the wall separating the bathroom shower and it worked great. Much better than my old Stanley finder. Worth the money and would recommend to my smart friends in the future.

After trying another spike finder and getting very inconsistent results after several scans, I decided I needed something more efficient. When I received this product I tested it on the same walls I had trouble scanning with before. This time I got consistent results every time and a clear indication of where the center of the wooden stud was behind the wall. So far this product has met all my high expectations.

I have found this device to be really accurate in locating wooden studs and live AC power cords. My simple accuracy test was to find the center of my first stud and see if the center of the second stud was 24 inches apart. The distance between centers was measured at 23.75 inches. For repeatability, I measured the distance from this second stud to the third and it was 24.25 inches. I don't know what tolerance builders need to consider, but it's close enough for me. With this device it points to studs where there are none. This led me to believe that the room I was scanning in had fire protection. I actually found blueprints for this room that also showed where the rivets should be. There is no stop fire. Vivreal Wall Scanner is easy to use and great for locating shelves. I like the graphic LCD and especially the left and right arrows. It seems confused by nearby objects like wire hangers when scanning the back of a closet, so clear the area. I only used it for spikes. I find the readings a bit confusing when looking for an edge. The center mark seems accurate, but the edge mark is not. Edge marks sometimes extend to a quarter of an inch, but usually around the 8th inch. The bolt appears to be 2 inches thick when in fact it is 1.5 inches.
