So simple and effective.

No internal drive cage required. A simple adapter will do. The drive is cooled in the ambient air. The case requires a fan, which increases the cost. I have a larger internal Blu-ray drive and it will be difficult to find a suitable enclosure. My new computer has an additional optical drive, is ultra slim and has no more free storage space. As discs become obsolete, what is a person to do with a pile of blank discs and treasure stored on Blu-ray? . Just remove the internal drive and use it at…

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Interchangeable

Works well with 3.5 ", 2.5 " and Bluray/DVD-ROM drives

I chose this SATA to USB 3.0 converter, because it supports everything I need for a temporary connection to my server. I've used it on SATA Bluray/DVDROM, 3.5" HDD, 2.5" HDD and they all worked fine. The additional power option is something most other options don't offer, and it's important because USB can't deliver enough power to drive a Bluray/DVD-ROM player or larger 3.5-inch hard drives. It can supply power for 2.5 inch players. " drives. Once connected, works as expected. All cables are…

Pros
  • Wide reach
Cons
  • Cable shorter than other options

Eh, decent for what it is.

Works well, a little cheap but good for occasional use. I suspect it won't last through everyday use, but for semi-regular use it should be fine. Please note that the cable connectors will feel a little flimsy when you plug something in. My guess is that frequent plugging/unplugging will eventually cause these ports to come loose. If you do this and forget to connect once, I'm sure it will work for that use too. The directions are a joke. As with everything else, assume spyware is built in. I…

Great connection for the money

This SATA to USB3.0 connection worked great for me. I got an internal BluRay R/W drive and wanted to use it with my laptop, so I got this one. The drive will likely draw more power than the laptop's USB port, so you'll need the external power that this adapter provides. Then no problem if the drive consumes too much electricity. The data transfer is fast enough to play a BluRay film. My only complaint is that the SATA connector it enters the drive through is rather unsupported (I put some…

Externally powered USB 3.0 to SATA adapter that works great!

I love everything about this USB to SATA adapter. Many USB to SATA adapters don't have an external power supply, which is acceptable to most people, but I've used Raspberry Pi boards that constantly run out of power when electron-saving peripherals are plugged into them. The included power supply for the adapter solves this problem. The data transfer speed between Raspberry Pi 4 (USB 3.0) and a SATA drive via this adapter was phenomenal. I love these products: they do what they were designed to

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

I often have to connect HDDs and SSDs to other computers . Either to restore files or to transfer data from one computer to another. Before this device I had to have an external 2.5" case and another 3.5" case. This Unitek SATA III to USB 3.0 adapter makes it easy. Simply plug the adapter into the drive's SATA port and connect the USB cable to the adapter and your computer. If it's a 2.5" drive or SSD, it just works. But 3.5-inch drives require more power than USB can deliver. Mac, I purchased…

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Makes me angry

Easy file recovery from old drive

I wanted to recover files from an old drive from a broken PC. I took out the drive (you don't have to), I popped the drive into this converter, plugged in the power supply, and plugged the other end into the USB port. Then I opened my drive list, found the old drive in the list, opened it and copied all of its files to a folder on my new computer. Please note that you cannot copy programs. If you cannot find the installation CD of the purchased programs, but you can find the authorization code,

Pros
  • UASP feature: Provides faster data transfer, 70% faster read speed and 40% faster write speed than traditional USB 3.0
Cons
  • No instructions

The power supply does not fully power the 3.5 inch hard drive.

This adapter draws power from the USB ports even when connected to a power supply. In a powered USB enclosure, you would expect the enclosure to power the entire drive, but that's not the case with this adapter. I found this out trying to build a NAS using a Raspberry Pi (whose USB port supplies a total current of 1.2A). With only the hard drive connected to 1 of the 4 USB ports, everything works fine. However, as soon as I connect other drives to the remaining USB ports, none of my drives are…

Cons

Simple, cheap and just works.

The same device can be found under several brand names, some with a blue LED like this one, others with a green LED. It's easy to tell that it's the same product by looking at images from different brands. I don't know who the maker of the source is, but it's made with a pretty high build quality. It was handled very carefully for fear of damaging it. It is very compact and the connectors fit well: USB, SATA and AC. B, but 2.5 feet or so should be enough if your PC case is on a table. My…
