Description of Kuretake GANSAI TAMBI Watercolor Paints - Handcrafted, Professional-Quality Pigment Inks for Artists and Crafters - AP-Certified - Blendable - Show up on Dark Papers - Made in Japan (24 Colors)

[24 Colors] Gansai is traditional Japanese watercolor, utilizing colors that are based off those seen in nature, meaning they are vivid and opaque. Pans are carefully filled with paint that is smooth, not granulated, and dries with a slight shiny finish. [Flexible Techniques] Paints do not leave hard edges when dry, making flat-washes easy to accomplish, and are easy to layer with proper technique. [Brush Dexterity] Gansai Tambi Pans are much larger than typical watercolor pans, giving you the ability to use both small or large brushes quite easily. [Palette and Color chart included] Within each Gansai Tambi set is a protective sheet that not only keeps your pans from shifting but can be used as a palette mixer. Each box also includes a color chart so you can swatch the colors yourself and distinguish between them quickly. [Beautiful Packaging, Ideal for Gift-giving] Water-based pigment is ACMI-certified, and packaged in a simple cardboard box with elegant green washi overlay. Perfect for gifts.

Excellent quality! Gorgeous colors.

This is the best watercolor set I have ever had. I learn as I go and it's such a lovely trait that my crappy looking drawings look like they were made on purpose rather than by a three year old. ;-) I liked this set so much that I immediately ordered a larger set with 36 colors. * Processed. It has become my favorite watercolor medium. I grab this brand before others. I'm in love with quality.

Wonderful creamy watercolors

Beautiful cream watercolors, beautiful colors. These colors differ from "art" watercolors such as Windsor Newton, so I created color and stain charts for this set. They are ideal for paper projects. Goes very well with the Gansai Starry Colors Metallic Set. Convenient size for portability. Replacement trays are available for installation in individual wells. They are packed in a box which is ok there is no room for a brush if that matters. I would buy them again.

Insanely vibrant colors!

I had never worked with watercolors as I prefer the lighter colors that can be achieved with a marker, colored pencil or acrylic. I got these based on other reviews and was so impressed, love them! All the intensity of color I love with acrylics that have better blending and flowability. I've done 5 paintings so far and I ran out of a few colors so I'm buying this set again. At 6.29 per can, it's a much cheaper way to buy them. I wish the color names were in English although the darker colors…

Great watercolors! good for painting, coloring and art supplies

This is my second pack of these paints. I ordered the large size for the first time and I ordered this to fill up some of the pots I use the most. These colors are light and creamy and look more opaque than regular watercolors unless you use a lot of water. They are also highly pigmented and long-lasting. My only criticism is that I don't like silver, gold and white in one big set and would rather have three additional colors. While I don't like the box, it's covered and sturdy, and the…

They are great and you can get replacement pots (Updated 2/17/20)

I'm a newbie and they work great for me. I bought a set of 24 and tried on every color except white and black. I've been using colored pencils for a long time and decided to go with watercolor. I can honestly say that all the colors look amazing! Greens look great, celadon and greens are on point, and reds and purples are vibrant. Some colors are very transparent (lemon yellow), while most colors are transparent or translucent. I use them with some Grace Art brushes (cheap but good for…

Pros
  • good stuff
Cons

I think this is a great product for the price I paid (about $24). Keep in mind that this isn't the kind of art-quality paint that Winsor and Newton, for example, make, but their paint also costs more than five times as much. For what it is, it's wonderful. Are the colors rich and cheerful, are they lightfast? I can't say, I suspect they may not be, but it won't affect many people. Don't leave artworks that are important (to you) out of direct sunlight and you'll be fine. Regardless of the…

Best Colors to Paint

This is my favorite watercolor set that I haven't found yet. The box it comes in is nice and sturdy and although it's in Japanese there is a small section in the lid where you can do color swatches to see how all the colors will look dry. All color comes in nice little plastic. Rectangles that can be removed. For the most part that's good as you can replace them once they run out (I haven't been able to find a replacement, to my disappointment I just bought a small base set and replaced the…

This is a really great color set and includes a good selection.

This is a really great painting set and has a nice variety of colors. To be honest I love everything about this set from the quality of the highly pigmented paints to the organization of the trays and the large trays themselves and the clear plastic palette. You only need to put a small amount of water on the brush to adjust the color. The large pots themselves are still a little over half full and I like that they are big enough to hold the entire brush and each pot can be taken out of the…

You are so beautiful!

This is amazing! So bright and so beautiful. I'm a big lover of watercolor paints so all I can say is that I find them great and easy to use. I've seen them reviewed on several craft YouTube channels. TheFrugalCrafter in particular, and I just had to try them. I understand that when they first came out they sold out quickly; I also read that it takes about 3 days for the manufacturer to make these watercolors. The bowls are a good size, wider than regular watercolor pans, making them ideal for…

I love these colors

I love these colors. great big pots. These colors should not be mixed much. They don't look like gouache, some compared, hard, some opaque. There is little color in the pots. I thought maybe it's because the color is very concentrated. I was surprised when I reached the bottom of the pan fairly quickly. I love the feel of this color. great colors and it was fun learning to mix non-own colors and experimenting with white. I would like to try metallic paints. I will post my opinion on this set…
