Review on πŸ”Š ASUS VE208T Back-Lit LED Monitor with Built-In Speakers and Wide-Screen Display (1600x900) by Justin Parker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great second monitor

I received this monitor yesterday and set everything up. Since then it's been hard for me not to be at my computer because I love it so much. A little background, I'm a very active computer user. I built my own gaming PC about a year ago and have been using it daily for a long time. When I assembled the PC, lack of money meant I could only afford a 27 inch screen, which I've been using ever since. It's a great screen, but for things like working from home and multitasking it's very impractical to use. I knew I would eventually need a second screen to make things easier. You can't beat the price for it. I've looked everywhere and this is the best deal I've found between user reviews, quality and functionality. I have many Asus devices. Goods including two computers and a tablet and I've never had a problem with them. I'm sure there are variances, but I'm always sure when I buy an Asus product. The biggest benefit for me was the ability to rotate the screen vertically. Since I can't fit another horizontal monitor on my desk, I knew I would need something in portrait format, but I didn't want to spend money on a VESA mount and wall mount it. The fact that this guy can easily switch to portrait mode on hundreds is very convenient and one of the reasons I bought it. The cables that come with the monitor are very short. I saw this in one of the product questions and underestimated how short it is. I had to fork out $25 for a longer DVI cable at Best Buy, which sucked, but I don't hold that against the monitor. Precisely because of the way I wanted to set it up I needed a longer one and didn't want to wait in the post for it. If you plan ahead, you should be fine. The image quality has been excellent so far. Of course you won't be running 4k games or anything like that, but as a secondary monitor for media consumption that I use, it far exceeds my expectations. So at the end of the day you only need a second monitor to avoid cluttering up your main screen, which is affordable and very beneficial if you can find one.

Pros
  • Good monitor for the price. I had to get an HDMI cable for this as it wasn't included.
Cons
  • He does his job, but not the best.
