Efficient Application: 3M 08117 MixPac Applicator Gun for 200 ml Cartridges Review

The product does not match the picture. I'd love to talk to someone about the product but my only options are to return or write a review so here I am. Should the cartridges be exactly the same? Product useful but very disappointed!

applicator TERRIBLE! Didn't work properly or consistently. I ended up removing the mixing nozzle and hand-squeezing the glue onto a piece of cardboard, hand-mixing it, and then applying it with a brush. And it was too expensive even if it worked.

My kit did not have several (different) pistons shown in the photo. That was the only reason I bought this one. Mine came with 2 identical copies of the same piston, neither of which was what I bought it for. Technically it works perfectly. It's otherwise identical to several generic models available here at Revain at a lower price.

I've bought 3m and other applicators and this one works much better for spraying 1:1 epoxies for me. But why does this Amazone have 2 2:1 pistons (which I never need) and not a 1:1 piston? A year ago I had glue splatters on the back which is a real mess and it's better to have a larger 1:1 piston which minimizes the chances of the little 'moving disc' holding the glue moving pushes out, doesn't turn sideways and makes a mess .

3m brand and imitations are the same product made in China. Mine arrived with two 2:1 pistons, not the advertised 2:1, 4:1 and 1:1. That's why I deliberately spent more money on this product than a dozen other fakes for a third of the price. Irritated. Do yourself a favor, use the extra money you save on your adhesives and buy one of the dozens that look exactly alike here on Amazon.

Pistol is fine but beware of bursting one or both cartridges (loud click). When this happens, the epoxy will return to the interior of the gun mechanism without the user noticing. So you're using an epoxy that never cures. And the gun ends up in the trash along with the cartridge. You just have to be very careful to push gently. 3m said just tell the dealer and have it replaced, but Revain sellers have short return periods and will use this to waive any obligation to help. 3M should be ashamed of the price! I bought 2 other applicators together but they are not worth half the price of this one. However, 3M appears to have made its 2216 two-piece epoxy container smaller on one side. This makes it difficult to use my other dispensers (which are identical in construction and materials). I purchased this product with 3M Scotch Weld 1:1 Adhesive and mixing tips that attach to the adhesive pack. I was very pleased with how easy it was to use and how reliable it seemed to work. I was able to complete the task of fitting new clips to my car's metal frame to hold the plastic side windshield cover that runs between the metal frame and the windshield. It was accurate and spread well with no issues. I took my time dosing the epoxy. I downgraded this to 4 stars only because of the price
