6204 2RS Sealed Bearing 20X47X14 Lubricated Review

I bought these for lawnmower deck spindles. I inspected them carefully prior to installation and found that both bearings have a defective seal. One doesn't hold any grease at all, the other doesn't fit the inner ring quite snugly. I was able to install them to hold grease, but the top bearing is more likely to seep water and dust through the top seal. I'm sure they will drop out prematurely, but I haven't had time to wait for another set to arrive.

I removed the seals and cleaned two bags of this grease. One bearing was as expected, smooth, clean, fast and worked as expected with some synthetic lube. The other bearing, on the other hand, covered its imperfections fairly well until I removed the seals and grease. I put it aside because of the horrible squeak/rattle. I have failed sealed bearings in my MTD mower deck. I replaced the failed bearings with these bearings, 6204-2RS sealed bearings. It's an easy job and these bearings fit perfectly. Just keep an eye on the spindle components as you disassemble, install new bearings, and reassemble the components in the same configuration.
