I knew I would get cheaper if I bought this instead of something from TNVC or a similar company but I figured I could replace the steel weights with lead fishing weights and it would be fine . The mass of steel is not enough to balance a pair of PVA-14. I approach with lead weights. My advice: don't be stingy and buy a real counterweight if you're going to use it for anything other than a battery box.

This counterbalance system is very effective for balancing the PVS14 kit or similar monocular setup. The weights are steel, not tungsten or lead. I don't recommend them for heavier NODs like a binocular setup. For something heavier you can add a Ziploc bag of lead fishing weights to replace or supplement the included weights.
