Arrived broken - twice

Part of the eject button was broken when the tape recorder first arrived; a piece that actually works. Therefore, there is no easy way to insert or eject a cassette into a tape player. I sent it back for an exchange. When the exchange came, I put the cassette in, pressed the play button, and the sound was distorted. After trying a few tapes, the spool was too weak to spin the tape at normal speed. I returned this for a full refund. Avoid this cassette player.

Pros
  • Power supply: 120V AC adapter (included) or 4 C batteries (not included)
Cons
  • Wrinkled

Just perfect!

For those who have a collection of old school audio cassettes, this is a godsend! It's thin, light, runs on four C-cell batteries or a power cord, and is easy to use. We particularly enjoyed finding this here at Revain as our elderly mum needed to replace a broken old tape player but she doesn't know much about electronics. It was just the perfect find for her! It has average sound quality and easy to use with standard PLAY, STOP, FF, REWIND, RECORD buttons. A slider on the side of the device…

Pros
  • *Reusing old cassettes will affect the sound quality. Try new cassettes *
Cons
  • Expensive

Doesn't pick up voices well

I tried twice to record a lesson I was giving with this. Both times I stood next to the recorder (it was about waist high on a table) and spoke louder than usual. During the recording, 6 other people were with me in a rather small room. During playback, my voice can hardly be heard due to the loud tape noise in the dictaphone, and you cannot hear the students' voices at all. I think it's because the mic is right next to the tape. The sole purpose of the purchase was to record classes so it was…

Pros
  • Fitted with carrying handle and headphone jack
Cons
  • Doubtful
