Description of 🌿 Fiskars 79436997J Softgrip Bypass Pruner - Black/Orange with Enhanced Efficiency

Bypass blade design is ideal for pruning green, living growth like ornamental shrubs and trees. Razor-sharp, precision-ground blade cuts with less resistance than thicker blades and stays sharp for lasting value. Low-friction coating resists rust, helps the blade glide through wood and prevents the pruner from gumming up with sap and debri. Cut capacity: 5/8 inch. Lifetime warranty.

They support their products!

I bought this instrument because I was very impressed with their previous instruments. Well when it arrived there was a problem! Everyone is professional when things are going well, but the proof is in how they react when a problem arises. You were outstanding! It's easy to find where to email. It was responded to quickly and a new replacement came in the mail a few days later. VERY PROFESSIONAL! Thanks very much!

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Little things

Disappointment good for scissors and scissors

I was disappointed with the tailors as they are not of the quality I have come to expect from Fiskars. The locking mechanism shifts to the locked position with each pinch (which is very frustrating. Pinch, unlock, pinch, unlock, pinch, unlock. Grrrrr!). Also, the blade doesn't seem to hold a sharp edge, although it only bites into small bushes. and flower stalks. I hate giving negative feedback and I may have just received a pair of loafers but they definitely aren't good wire cutters.

Pros
  • Excellent overall
Cons
  • Hard to say

They sent a smaller cheaper version as if I didn't recognize it

Too bad. Another recent reviewer, Janine Dulcher, had the same experience on August 21, 2020. This listing is for model 79436997J with 5/8 cutting capacity. This is not the Fiskars product that arrived today. Like Janine, I received the 9684 which has a 1/2" cutting capacity. This is a smaller pruner that I don't want to be involved with after using 79436997J for years. Check the bottom left corner of the package. If 1/2 stands within the small circle you have fallen prey to baiting and…

Reasonably priced pruning shears

A couple of these pruning shears that I have are good for cutting deadwood or live wood 2 or 3 times the diameter. Toothpick to about 3/8" to 1/2". My pair did not completely cut the thin green shoots that grow in abundance on trees or grow through the ground in my garden, only partially and awkwardly recurving. I've found that retracting the handles while holding the thin green shoots still helps the secateurs cut more accurately, but doing so adds a flaw to the experience of using them in my…

  • Great construction

  • I don't like anything about it, everything is fine

Very light use made them dull in no time. Do it better Fiskars!

I received this in mid-May. I have not used them on anything larger than 3/8 and have not used any hardwood at all. Hell, if they aren't already blunt enough to leave the last bit of bark uncut. It's crazy. So, yes, I get out my flat file and sharpen the blade, but given that the factory edge hasn't lasted more than a few days of very light work, I think I should leave the file where it's easy to find. Fiskars is not the same anymore. I knew that this clipper wasn't the best in the line not…

Pros

  • Lots of stuff

Great secateurs for the price, works well and I bought a few for garden use.

I decided to ignore the reviews on the front page of this listing and order 4 of these. I tend to lose pruning shears and leave them in various places in the garden (and around the house when the phone rings) so I decided to take a chance as these are currently the cheapest pruning shears on Revain. I am very happy with them. Pros and Cons: Pros: + Good for cutting small branches like roses etc. Cannot handle large branches I would say max 1/4 inch + Comfortable grip + Blade is sharp and seems…
