Easy to use. I didn't test without it.

Update 06/06/2017 I recently did a road trip from Oklahoma City to Tulsa, Oklahoma. I used my Garmin Nuvii 2597 between two city tours, with the HD power cord receiver and this antenna extender on the dash. According to Garmin coverage map. The handheld should have lost signal between the two cities, but with this antenna extension there was no loss of coverage. I haven't tried unplugging the extension cord from the powerline antenna to see if that makes a difference. Because I got into the…

Great for those who have HD reception on the edge.

The Garmin antenna extension cable offers a modest improvement, but even a modest one can make a world of difference for HD receivers. Since I switched from an analog traffic device to an HD device, I've found that my traffic updates are more frequent when I'm in signal; but I have a much smaller reception. I am now finding that unlike my HD Radio, Garmin HD Traffic units cannot receive regular analog signals (please comment if this is a bug so I can update my review). I live near the…

Accurate antenna, clear reception and peaks

This optional Garmin traffic antenna gives me two things: accuracy and reception. Garmin Traffic Module (GTM) power cords typically have an unusually thick wire between the power connector and the receiver module. If you're running a cable through the dash to improve reception, I think a heavy cable can help reduce movement.
