Dog breeds really similar but not that easy

These designs are really amazing. They really capture the essence of each breed of dog, some better than others, but you can skim the book and immediately say "oh Jack Russell Terrier" or "Corgi". Of course, some of them are better than others. The book says "easy to use," but that's only part of the story. This style of knitting involves many additions, decreases, yarn changes, and other tricks that a beginner or even an advanced knitter may not be familiar with. And you work in tight…

This is "preliminary" because I haven't made any dogs yet. However, I went through the book carefully and compared photos to dogs I had or knew well. I had an Afghan Hound and I have to say the designers did a fantastic job creating a realistic looking knitted Afghan Hound. Fun but not for beginner knitters

If you've never knitted anything other than scarves, potholders or maybe hats, I wouldn't recommend this book unless you want to learn a few new ones first. Technique as for knitters with little experience. In addition to basic skills in casting on/hole punching, knitting, purling and increasing/decreasing on knit and purl rows, stockinette and garter stitch, you need to know things like casting on more stitches at the end of a row, bundling and slipping , PSSO , off.
