Very thick, must be thinned for use

I have learned that Van Dyke Brown shades can vary greatly. Grisaille is a less desirable quality. (It's still better than the Utrecht version though.) I've never used M. Graham before and found it to be a very thick paint. I have to dilute it every time I want to use it as it's too thick to use straight from the tube. This makes the tube last longer. I bought her walnut oil to dilute. Very pretty for a dark blonde.

Great product at a great price. HOW that is so amazing. !?!?!?

I prefer Graham oils to any other company I've tried. The price is great. The pigment loading is excellent. The oiliness right out of the tube is out of this world. I couldn't ask for more from oil paint. Since it's made from walnut oil, keep in mind that it takes a lot longer to dry. Like a full 4 days for me. But I've since bought a large tube of Gamblins White for mixing whites, and it helps save time since Gamblin uses linseed oil as a binder. And linseed oil dries faster than walnut oil. I

Pros
  • Made in the USA
Cons
  • Something different

I have several other colors from M.Graham's line of oils that I love. Your Quinacridone Violet is probably the prettiest I've ever seen from a paint manufacturer. Really rich and juicy. Their Quinacridone Rose and Phthalo Blue are also very good; However, I'm not as keen on her earthy tones as this raw umber. The brightness of her other colors seems lost compared to the earthy tones of other premium paint manufacturers. I love the fact that M.Graham uses walnut oil instead of flaxseed. While…

Good colors in Paints

I have been using M. Graham Oils for a while. I like her for several reasons. As with all products, there are pros and cons. The paint color is excellent; These are professional paints. The consistency is very smooth. They are very soft and fun to work with on the palette for a while. They are based on walnut oil. This is good because for some people they are considered a healthier drawing option. They seem to be drying up slowly. You can take this as a positive or negative depending on your…

Pros
  • Colors retain their transparency and do not alter the color properties of other drying oils
Cons
  • New competitors have emerged
