Type of review

Attach a Makita BO5041 random orbit sander, purchased at the same time, to my store's vacuum. On arrival I was disappointed to find that it was the wrong size to connect to the grinder. While this may be a very good hose, it falls short of my expectations that it will actually work. Sander works great. My email to Makita product support has also been ignored for the past 4 business days.

It is difficult to install a Makita grinder. DOES NOT fit US 1-1/4 " hose

1. The tool end (3/4") of this hose is too small to be tapered. I was able to apply it after using the hair dryer. A big difference from original Makita dust collectors with a 22mm connector that simply snaps on. Original Makita Bugs have a 22-21mm cone connection. This one doesn't even come close. Won't stay connected with RIDGID 1-1/4" hose. Some users are happy, and some, like me, got a completely useless hose. I'm wondering if Revain have different suppliers and someone just got a fake…

Ideal for Makita BO5041K 5 " Orbital Sander

Perfect for Makita BO5041K 5" Orbital Sander. Correct universal hose set with a small connection > to the Makita hose. In my experience, this device (connected to the Oneida Dust Vice/Shop Vac system) picks up almost all of the dust that the grinder produces. Door guide to reduce weight when sanding items on my workbench. The small end of the Makita hose connects directly to the sander's dust outlet. This is the most "elegant" solution I could implement in a portable installation. Specialist

Good hose for Makita grinders

Connects directly to Makita Random Orbit (BO5041) and Finishing (BO4556) grinders. It's a very tight fit as other reviews have mentioned, but it worked really well for me. I had to use a Ridgid vacuum adapter with the tip cut off to connect it to my store bought Ridgid vacuum, but it does the job. I would recommend using a bag made for your industrial vacuum to collect extra dust and save on the filter. The downside for me is that I have a 6 gallon Ridgid vacuum and this hose (because it's a…

Pros
  • Ideal for small households
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

As you can see from the attached photos the hose is extremely stiff even after several days in temperatures around 100F. Adapter for connection to the universal shop vacuum cleaner. The OD of the random orbital sander is 13/16" and the ID of this overly stiff hose is just under 3/4". The slip joint doesn't taper, so installing this thing is an extremely painful experience. I have several Makita sanders and this one doesn't even match the random orbit sander it was designed for. You can make it…

Lots of bad reviews about it being tough but it's actually ok

Lots of bad reviews about it being tough but really not that bad and it's 100 times better than a 2 .5 inch vacuum hose connected directly to a When a sander tries to sand blankets upside down it really takes a lot of the weight off you in that situation. A lot of people complain that the connection to the Makita grinder was small, manly boys, it's rubber and it has to be very tight to keep it from falling off! By the way, I never fell. Despite the fact that my 130 lb wife managed to push it…

I have this hose to connect to a Makita 5" RO grinder (BO5041) with a small 3/4" dust collector connected to a cyclone to collect the dust in the workshop to be reduced considerably. when grinding. I'm trying to control dust in a store and this has been a big source of particulate matter. Short summary: The hose is cheap, robust, but does the job. It has fairly tight end connections, but the ones that mentioned the hot water trick work great. Softens it enough to bond. Then you need a strong…
