Description of πŸ”§ Rathburn Ring Stretcher - 6-1/2" - High-Quality Tool from SFC Tools - 48-135

The Rathburn Ring Stretcher can quickly enlarge rings. Works particularly well for rings size 8 1/2 or larger. Not recommended for use on stone-set rings. A simple tap on the end of the tool using a rawhide mallet, spreads the outer mandrel and stretches your ring.

Not this one: jewelry making tools and supplies

It stuck on first use. i am not new I had to tap it out, sand the wedge and inside of the collet, and apply WD40. The boredom was overwhelming.

Good product, bad idea.

Expanding the ring is a good idea, but it doesn't always work. If the metal is non-ductile, the ring will break rather than stretch. My experience with 10k gold. The ring was not stretched, but simply burst. I even heated the ring to make it more pliable. πŸ™ƒ

The goods worked, slowly

I had a size 8 engagement ring that no longer fit. I did it slowly (it took about 10 days) but in the end it turned out to stretch almost 2 sizes. There were scratches on the ring and the tool is difficult to use as the bit always binds so a lot of lubricant had to be used. Basically satisfied.

  • is understandable also to the old

It fits a size 7. 6 doubtful.

I finally decided to pull the inner bar all the way out so I could put a size 7 ring on it, then reinsert the bar and start pounding. You may need to learn how to anneal if you need to stretch the ring too much. This works great when I stretch my ring 1/2 size. I work slowly every day because I don't have any glow material.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!

go slow The ring expands rapidly.

Works great! The only problem I had was that after a few uses the small end of the stamp came out from under the tip. But I just put it back around. This is not tool steel. If so, it would cost $50 or more. The jewelry store charged $100 to resize my ring. It costs me less than $20 and I can use it again and again for free. My ring has changed from size 11 to size 12. No problem. But go slow.

Simply amazing in beading and jewelry crafts

My 25 year old wedding ring was too small and after it was removed for surgery I couldn't put it back on my finger. I went to a jeweler and was told that going from 9.0 to 10.25 would cost about $400. Get out of my stadium. That's how I find this gem. I worked on it for three weeks, a little bit every day, no more than 10 hammer blows. It was immediately clear that it works. The ring has not been deformed in any way. I only kept it for a little while and I am proud to say that I can wear the…

Works well with some limitations

So this stretcher worked pretty well but there are a few things to note. First, nothing smaller than a size 8 will fit. Also, the "leaves" flexed quite a bit after the first use, so the minimum size has now gone up to an 8.5 or 9 unless you're REALLY struggling with that. . . . Second, after you've driven the wedge in and need to push it back out, make sure you put a block of wood or something between the hammer and the end of the wedge or it will mushroom and make it harder to reinsert.…

Leaves deep scratches on the inside of the ring

I was able to stretch the ring about 1.5 sizes. Based on some other reviews I did this slowly over several days. Since my ring is quite wide, I had to keep flipping it - it's wider than each step on this mandrel. However, because the slots in the mandrel are not polished after cutting, they have sharp edges. This results in a whole series of deep scratches on the inside of the ring. I didn't realize this was happening until I finished resizing. In my case it's not that important, but it will…

Really Works

As an emergency room doctor who had to cut too many rings, I noticed my own wedding ring getting tighter and digging into my finger. I wanted to find someone who would appreciate the ring, but out of curiosity I checked out Revain here to see what happened. First I bought the size of the ring. Then I bought this. I was a bit skeptical but for the price I decided to give it a try. Now I have a 14K ring, I think a harder ring might not work. At first I used a lighter hammer as some suggested and…
