Description of 🛠️ TEMO 100 pc 1/2 Inch Coarse Grit Sand Drum with 2 pc 1/8 Inch Mandrel, Compatible for Dremel Rotary Tools

100 PC 1/2" (12.7mm) sand drum with 2 Mandrel Compatible for dremel grit 60 coarse. 100 piece 1/2" (12.7mm) 60 Grit, 1/2" (12.7mm) Diameter; 2 piece 1/2" (12.7mm) X 1/2" (12.7mm) Rubber Mandrels; 1/8" (3.175mm) shank size (Compatible for Dremel and other Rotary Tools). Here are our best practices for using sand drums. 1. Adjusting the screw at the top of the mandrel will loosen or tighten the sand drum. Make sure the sand drum is held tight to the mandrel before use. 2. During use, periodically power down the rotary tool to check the sand drum. Ensure that there is sufficient grit remaining on the band before continuing. 3. Rotary tools can operate at very high RPM. High RPM with a small tool such as a sanding drum produces a lot of friction and heat build up. Ensure that your sand drum and mandrel is not getting too hot. Consider using medium speed and alternating mandrels as you change sand drums out to reduce heat build up.4. Rotary tools are power tools. Always consider appropriate eyewear and other PPE to suit your task.

Waste of time and money

It was a waste of time and money. They're really difficult to tighten (too tight) and break instantly before you can actually sand. Look at the attached picture and you will see how little the sandpaper wears before it breaks. I understand this is a super bargain price wise but it needs to do its job to be value for money. It doesn't work at all.

Pros
  • Makes you happy
Cons
  • No work

Groomer Warning

I am a professional groomer and bought these to file my dog's nails. I've been using Dremel sand drums for several years with no problems, but wanted to buy in bulk and save money. These sand drums don't fit very well on the Dremel attachment because they are too small and need to be pressed open. However, my biggest concern is how they will fall apart during use. This has happened to me three times and I ended up throwing the whole bag away. I can't let the dog get hurt.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • No Instructions

Great Price - Tips

I go once a week to get my Doberman nails trimmed so I have to buy them in bulk and doing it through Dremel just isn't value. I ordered another batch, they were the first and they were ok but this sand and company seems like the perfect combination. They fit the Dremel very well so there is no loud buzz or buzz and they are easy to change and very comfortable to wear. I'm sure I could get more than one use of each but why try when you have 100. Great deal, will buy again.

Get the Dremel version

Seriously don't buy these for woodworking. Dremel mandrels are designed to be pulled up and thinned, allowing the user to slide across the sanding drum; Then push the mandrel down and it expands to create a tight fit. These mandrels do not do this, so the sanding drum slips loosely on the mandrel and therefore either breaks or spins during use. Judging by the reviews, some people use them to groom their dogs. I'm not sure how it works - maybe. But for working with a tree, this is completely…

Works the same as Dremel brand drums but much cheaper.

They seem about as good as the Dremel brand sanding drums I buy at the hardware store and a lot cheaper. They keep the same time and seem to be the same from one roll to the next. I'm a blacksmith and these are useful for cleaning serpentines and other handle parts. They work reasonably well on very dense hardwoods such as Catalox, Ebony and Lignum, as well as annealed and hardened blade steels. A single drum might not last long under heavy use, but with a 100-pack and using a quick-change…

Pros

Not a bad price for small projects.

UPDATE 08/12/2015: After learning from a simple oversight on my part that the drums were improperly seated in relation to their associated mandrels, I have updated my review on this product. The mandrels are slightly adapted to the drums. I really liked the performance of the sanding rollers, so I upgraded them. They're so loose they just slide up and down with no effort - some don't even touch the rubber around the spike. Not sure if they packed the wrong size drum for this order. Instead of…

  • Some minor issues

I have a German hound whose claws are growing like weeds. He runs and plays in the park, but rarely walks on concrete or asphalt, so his nails don't wear out every day. My husband has a Dremel so I tried different whetstones. Everything wore off quickly and he couldn't file his black toenails. So I tried sandpaper on a rubber wheel - to my surprise, it works beautifully! His nails are growing fast; I usually have to hem them about every 10 days or they click on hardwood floors. A small strap…
