garbage from China. Stay away!

Made in China bullshit. I knew I would, but needed a pair of large percolators for a large group. If you buy one, take a tea strainer with you to catch all the coffee grounds because the coffee basket doesn't close, so you can fit a large amount of coffee grounds including the lid. Also (beer can) aluminum lye. So use it, color it and then use it again for the final cooking. They end up in the trash at the end of the trip.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

The coffee was delicious. I was really impressed and a little intrigued.

Okay, if so I wasn't quite sure how this thing would even work. This is my first experience with a percolator. A few weeks ago we took it on a trip to the Grand Canyon and we use it to make coffee over the open fire every morning. It took about 15 minutes to heat up and make coffee. The floor was blackened with soot. But it will be clear soon. The coffee was delicious. In fact, I was impressed and a little intrigued by how it works. I figured I would have to make all 20 cups and there was only…

Not the best but worth every penny!

Yes, it takes time to warm up and wake up BUT what do you expect from someone who is twice your age? I've used it hunting for a total of 3 weeks this year. It was used on a large 3 burner stove which cooks faster than a regular 2 burner green stove. Drop onto a bigger stove - after 3 weeks of cooking the clear plastic handle on top started to melt. Like I said, it's not the manufacturer's fault. It was because of the big propane burners and the people who turned them too hard. Mine still works…

Too big for my own good

I really wanted to love it. We love campfire coffee and have used a smaller version of the same pot for years. The kids grow older around the campfire and drink too much coffee at the same time, so we had to buy a bigger kettle. Bought, tested on the kitchen stove, the coffee is too weak. When camping we tried to load it with coffee grounds as much as possible. It takes more than an hour to seep across the fire. Doesn't cook well, tank is too big, besides, a little moisture can't reach the…

I will keep them. - Coffee and tea pots

There's good and bad here, light weight, perfect for camping, heats well and when done right, really good taste. I should have returned it but I won't be going back because it was a good price even though the purculator is nothing like the one from many decades ago. All of them were up to the early 70's. You just HAVE to do it. If you can rock it, you're getting stainless steel to last. This item is for occasional use as the stick tends to float due to the boiling of the water when some coffee…

Pros
  • Great for a small home

  • Almost never

Exactly what I want/expect

This might be the best camping purchase I've ever made! I bought for a hike with a few other families, all the adults were very appreciative of the good hot coffee in the morning. Everyone agreed that the coffee was delicious. I've also used it to boil water for hot chocolate. It is easily transferred. After reading other reviews about dents, I shipped it in a crate. Mine didn't wrinkle or leak and was perfect for what I needed. Also, as with any stovetop coffee maker, take plenty of time to…

Pros
  • Confident

  • Not as bulky as other options

Updated review after the trip.

Haven't used this pot yet but it seems well made. It's aluminum, but it's by no means flimsy. I had no trouble putting the cover on and off, and the filter basket and bracket seem to be made fairly well. The dome of the percolator is plastic, I was hoping for glass but it should work just fine. Can't wait to use it camping this summer. I'm sure it's used at home before just to try it. It was nice to have fresh coffee in the morning at the campsite. The capacity is huge but I only made about 10…
