54 dBA or more

54 dBA or more in a quiet room while my phone reads 22 dBA. I haven't checked the upper limit. Another reviewer mentioned that he was unable to measure low level noise after the article had aged. Maybe I have old stock.

This is a scam. fits sound level meters and sound meters

You might have better luck. I suggest ordering three gauges and three calibrators. If they all match, you're good. So far I have two defective sound pressure level meters. It was one of them. I also bought a calibrator which is equally inaccurate at all three meters. Let's see if the following two calibrators agree.

Almost perfect - test, measure and check

This bad boy does his job well. When I have to confront my DJs and tell them they're playing too loud, the screen is big, bold, backlit and easy to read. Keep them in line! I'm only deducting a star because of the auto shut off. While this is great for battery life, it's frustrating to have to keep pressing the power button when trying to mix for a live audience. Our desk is dark too so I have to fumble around to find it and hit the power button.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use

  • Dubious purchase for the elderly

The display and backlight worked great. Unfortunately

Bought for work. It arrived and I put in the batteries that came with it and turned it on. The display and backlight worked great. Unfortunately, that's the only positive thing I can say. The power button did NOT work to turn off the device unless you pressed it almost immediately after turning on the device. The automatic shutdown didn't work either. I could work around the power button issue a bit if the counter was at least roughly accurate. The maximum I could get was around 38 dB. The SPL…

Easy to use, works well

Okay, now I'm not an audio engineer so I can't say how accurate it is, but I think it works pretty well. I measured different things in my house. The loudest was our little son who can scream at a whopping 120dB when angry! Wow, no wonder my ears hurt! As far as it works it has 3 modes. active measurement and maximum tone and minimum tone mode. It's pretty easy to click to find the mode you want. It comes with a 9 volt battery and feels solid and well built. It looks the same as shown in the…

Great stereo balancing tool

I have an 11.1 stereo in my entertainment room. I tried to equalize the stereo sound field to make the sweet spot even sweeter! If possible at all? I adjusted the dB levels on each speaker. Sounds pretty balanced to me until I spoke to the sound engineer. I followed his advice and bought this dB meter. The results are nothing short of amazing. At least to my ears. It sounds the same from all directions in the room! It turned out really great! The numbers on the scale go up and down fairly…
