No Pump = No Circulation/Efficiency

This heater has no pump - it is a 'naturally circulating' heating medium. I didn't buy it for that reason - at best - the script would have to run it constantly to get any effect, so the lifespan of the element is dismal and the power consumption unreasonably high. Only the adjacent part of the cooling system is affected.

Pros
  • Convenient Design and Universal Strap
Cons
  • Appearance

It will not circulate

Very disappointed. If you buy this heater and expect it to "circulate" coolant while heating up, like I did, you're as wrong as me. There is no circulation pump, the coolant itself does not circulate. It heats what's in the tank and that's it, I expect this block will soon burn out like the previous one. The cord is only about 12 inches long but I was expecting it as I see in the picture but when it says "Circulating Motor Heater" I really expected it to be circulating. :(

Pros
  • Safety thermostat with temperature sensor provides overheat protection 147˚F (64˚C) ON. - 85˚C (185˚F) OFF
Cons
  • The list gets long.

Universal Engine Block Heater Hose Heater - Cast Aluminum Body

This hard to find body option was just a gimmick when I needed to replace an old leaky block. All other water heaters have a seemingly sturdy steel body with end caps for construction, but they shatter if you move the heater hoses for some reason after a season or two. This die cast aluminum shroud can take the load of an old truck engine and is much better suited to a clamp mechanism as over tightening is not a problem. My only complaint is that the 120v power cord is so short as shown in the…

Pros
  • Integrated check valve supports a variety of plumbing configurations
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
