Review on ๐Ÿ“ท Fujifilm X100F 24.3 Megapixel APS-C Digital Camera in Silver Shade by Rory Stice

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The FujiFilm X100F is a brilliant little camera with charm and soul.

Over the past 25 years as a photographer I can honestly say that the FujiFilm X100 series is my favorite camera of all time. Looking back at my portfolio, I'm most proud of the photos of my X100S and X100F because they "just captured the moment". For me, the prime lens forces me to prioritize composition and think outside the box. I've shot with multiple systems, starting with Canon film in the 90's, then Canon DSLRs. I switched to a Micro 4/3 system about 10 years ago, which was a nice transition to mirrorless cameras, but didn't suit DSLRs at the time. About 5 years ago I bought my first FujiFilm X100S camera. I fell in love with it instantly and gave up my Micro 4/3 system in favor of the XT-1. Later switched to X-Pro2 and I also have an X-E3 as a backup/travel camera. Eventually I made the biggest mistake of my career as a photographer by selling my X100S. Fortunately, I realized my terrible mistake and bought the X100F. It has the same soul as the original X100 cameras, but with more attention to detail. The same 'magic' in the combination of lens and sensor is still there, but with slightly faster autofocus and some extra bells and whistles to adapt the camera to your shooting style. The X100F has a tactile advantage over most cameras. I owned. I almost never have to dive into the menu. Knobs, knobs and switches are perfectly placed in an arrangement that becomes second nature. I've never shot much with flash, but the petal shutter allows for incredible flash sync speed, allowing you to use the built-in flash (or my Nissin hot shoe) to throw extra light on a backlit subject. For this reason, I now photograph more subjects with backlighting. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the ND filter too. With a simple press of the Fn button, I can select an ND filter and shoot wide open (f/2) in broad daylight. Finally, the size and design of this camera make it easy to take with you wherever you go. The FujiFilm X100F is a brilliant little camera with charm and soul. The camera isn't for everyone, but it's perfect for me. Glory to Fujifilm! I'm taking this camera to my grave.

Great camera, but the little quirks it has and form factor just aren't for me.
