Review on πŸ“· Neewer Camera Base Mount Bracket for Canon EOS RP: Microphone/Light Cold Shoe Extension, Tripod Mount, Vlog, YouTube, Live Stream Accessories by Brock Chisholm

Good in theory but awkward grip

The body is all metal with some rubber pads pressing against the camera body, the fit with the Canon RP body is fairly good when aligned. A quick cold shoe test is great for accessories. Nothing closes the battery/SD card door. At its price, there are plenty of reasons to love it. Unfortunately, the fatal flaw is that I'm less comfortable with it than with the camera itself. The main reason I bought the Extended Grip for my Canon RP was because I didn't want my pinky to curl under the camera body . I have big hands and I've usually used a battery grip on my other cameras, but I'm not a fan of the ones currently available for the Canon RP that require an extra cable. I also wanted to avoid paying the full cost of Canon's official extended grip. Since the Neewer grip has a slot to keep the battery/SD slot door accessible, it ends up biting my finger a bit. No sharp edges, no risk of cuts, I just don't feel comfortable with it. While I can easily change my grip to accommodate this, I can say the same about the RP body itself. There are many things to like about the Neewer grip, but without a comfortable grip, this one is making a comeback.
