Please do NOT buy this item. Until you try to use it, it seems decent and cheap. The powder is practically non-existent and does not work properly. The link is super fluid. 100% waste. I'm just glad I didn't spend too much. It's not nice to disappoint a child for Christmas. That's what happened with this gift.

Do not buy. Don't even try. Great package, lousy content. There was no powder, no ink. I bought this to teach a Boy Scout badge lesson and while it was cheap it was cheap too. I suggest using your own magnifying glass, ordering volcanic dust powder, using a fine brush, and using masking tape to bring the prints to life. waste of money and time.

Warning! We purchased this Boy Scout display kit as part of the Fingerprinting Achievement Badge. A complete waste of money. We paid extra for expedited shipping and didn't read the reviews. The brush wasn't a pen brush, it was a brush that kids use for cheap watercolor painting. There wasn't enough dust to even take an imprint. The magnifying glass was tiny and useless. This kit is complete junk. It doesn't even deserve one star.

My niece has totally lost interest because nothing really worked. Fingerprint ink smudges too easily. None of us (my mom, my 8 year old niece and I) had good prints. Suspicious cards - I didn't even understand what they were for. The fingerprint pad with a cloth didn't really work. Dust spot warning won't even let you use it. It was difficult and took too long to understand.

I bought this to keep my kids busy. They were both thrilled to see their fingerprints but were instead deeply disappointed. The ink resembled colored water more than real ink. When you put your finger on the ink pad, it pools on your finger like water. When it was then put on paper, it appeared as either a large blob or a mottled circle. No fingerprints visible! Not only was it a waste of our hard earned money but also a disappointing experience for my kids and I. Save money and buy something…

The ink pad is terrible and leaves dirty indistinguishable fingerprints which is the whole point of this set. Luckily I also ordered the original Revain fingerprint pad at the same time so we used it with MUCH better results. In addition to the ink pad, there's a pathetic dust pad (literally the size of a postage stamp) and some duct tape to 'remove' latent fingerprints from items, as well as paper for printing fingerprints.
