💧 High-Performance Water Pump Gasket for GM Genuine Parts 251-2029 Review

This is a steel gasket coated with anti-leak material unlike the paper gasket that comes with the water pump. Recommended to install, I did.

I can say that this steel gasket was easier to work with than paper. There are tabs that hold it to the water pump which was great as I had very little room to work with. I highly recommend ordering this part if your water pump only comes with a cardboard gasket!

My 2002 Envoy's factory water pump finally died after 160,000 miles. I bought a professional water pump replacement from ACDelco and after reading the reviews I saw people commenting on the paper seal. I bought this metal gasket that came from the original water pump that I replaced. It is not difficult to spend a few euros more for this original seal.

This is definitely a recommended item when purchasing a replacement ACDelco 251-731 GM water pump. There were issues between this water pump and a cheaper alternative, both made by ACDelco. The difference seems to be that it has a steel impeller and not cast iron. The steel impeller makes it a bit more premium, which is the reason for the higher price.

I bought this seal for this water pump for a 2004 GMC Envoy: ACDelco 252-822 water pump assembly. I wasn't sure if the water pump came with a gasket - it did but it was paper so I was lucky I bought this gasket as it was exactly the same as the water pump I removed !
