Magnetic Magic in a Bottle

After trying this product, I was thoroughly impressed with its performance. The industrial and scientific design makes it easy to use for experiments and demonstrations, providing excellent results every time. The bottle is also very durable, ensuring long-term use. My only concern is that the iron filings can sometimes be difficult to remove from the bottle, especially for younger students. Overall, the Ajax Scientific Iron Filing Bottle is a great addition to any science education program…

Pros
  • Easy to use and store
Cons
  • Potential for accidental spillage

Worse than I thought

Iron filings don't hold up well. When you open the lid, there is a dirty cotton swab. If you remove a cotton swab to get at the iron filings, the filings will fall everywhere and stain your hands. Wouldn't recommend it. However, I would recommend Dowling's iron filings.

Pros
  • Industrial & Scientific
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Very good product, perfect for magnetism demonstrations.

Perfect for this purpose. These sawdust are very thin like flour. This makes them very sensitive to magnetic fields and enables impressive demonstrations. The bottle has a perforated inner lid to distribute for your display. The previous complaint about a "dirty tampon" is not true. There is a cotton swab in the bottle, and the "sludge" is the iron supply. Exactly what you expect. It's easy to pull out the shaker's inner cap and replace the sawdust in the bottle when you're done using it.
