Bought for a 4.5 year old and ordered an XS (luckily I got it instead of a 5T) and it just fit him. My son is not very tall and weighs about 43 pounds and size XS fits him. I bought these for my sons in early June. In the summer they swim once a day, and by the end of July these shirts were so worn that they were unusable. One was so stretched it was literally dangling off my son's shoulder. We never washed them in the washing machine, they were only used daily in the pool.
