Took about ten minutes to assemble, no tools required until you need a screwdriver to add decorative squares. I did not mount the hanging plate. With a full 10 gallon tank on top, the stand is rock solid and doesn't wobble at all. The stand was perfect for my 10 gallon Aqueon tank on top. There is no need to put wood on top of the metal rim. The stand is beautiful and durable. Please ensure you measure your tank before ordering and note that older tanks may not stand directly on this stand. I recommend buying a 10x20 tank from the same manufacturer, Aqueon. We have two old tanks and neither of them fit and sit directly on top of the tank as there are four small metal posts on top of the stand to keep the tank from sliding and these posts need to be placed INSIDE the base of the tank. This review is for Aqueon Forge Metal Aquarium Stand 20" x 10" Black. I cannot say enough good things about this product. It's extremely durable, it was very easy to put together, it was good value and the package was easy to pick up and unpack on arrival (wasn't heavy or bulky). This stand is specifically made for a 10 gallon aquarium measuring 20" x 10" at the top. The top shelf has four pegs on the corners that are perfect for holding a 10 gallon tank firmly in place. The bottom shelf has no
