This TM602G works great with Comcast/Xfinity Voice service. I bought it to replace the TM602G provided by Comcast. After 3 days of fighting with them (they claimed it wasn't a supported modem even though I already had the exact model I rented from them activated on my account) I finally activated it. The trick with layer 3 support was to add it as TM722G. To save yourself some headaches, enable it with the following steps: 1. Plug it in and run it. Wait for the updated device firmware to…

Perfect! Replaced my rented Time Warner cable modem with this one.

Excellent! Replaced my rented Warner cable modem that went from $5/mo to $8/mo so I'm now saving $96/year. I also switched to ooma for phone service that costs less than $5/month and they have premium service for an additional $10/month. You need to buy a box of Ooma, which costs $100 today. All I can say from the negative reviews about Time Warner is that my purchased modem works just like the rented one. When they read reviews about ooma and Time Warner customers, they state that when they…

Pros
  • Good stuff
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

The product itself is excellent and would work as intended if Comcast weren't so complicated. The first rep I spoke to told me the device was EOL and could not be activated. The second rep I spoke to told me the device was EOL for internet but should work fine for phone calls. He was able to connect it with the model number TM822R. It worked for about an hour and then stopped. I called back the next day and spoke to Level 3 tech support. They attempted a few fixes and got it working again…

Ignore old reviews - Does NOT work with Comcast Voice

I only gave this modem one star because it is a DOCSIS 2 modem and Comcast will NOT add it to your account (even for basic telephony use). Comcast supports DOCSIS 2 (and likely will for some time, this TM602G replaces Comcast's TM604G - same model but with 4 voice lines instead of 2). The ONLY Arris phone modems that Comcast will add to your account and provide as of today 10/12/16 are the TM862G, TM622G and TM822G. A Comcast representative showed me the screen used to add a customer's phone…

Works great for telephony; separate newer modem for internet

I bought this modem at a very reasonable price to use purely as an eMTA telephony modem with my new high speed SB6190 for internet. The goal was to replace a rented combo modem from Comcast (TG862g) that costs me $10 a month! I felt that if I were to buy my own modem I'd prefer a faster newer modem that's more forward-thinking than the (expensive) TG862g model. The problem is that there are very few options that include a phone. The initial setup of the SB6190 worked without any problems with…

Pros
  • Good product for the price

Great product and great activation instructions

I ordered this for my 83 year old mother to get rid of the $10/month modem rental fee for her Comcast (Xfinity) modem. Mom only has a phone connection to Comcast (no internet) because the TV cable is included in her rental at the personal care facility. I wanted to reduce my monthly phone bill from $30 to $20 per month. I ordered this (great price) and it arrived in a well packaged box as promised. The kit included instructions for activating the modem, they proved invaluable. The instructions…
