Description of ๐Ÿ”ญ Astromania 1.25" UHC (Ultra High Contrast) Filter - Exceptional Visibility of The Orion, Lagoon, Swan, and Other Expansive Nebulae

Nebula filter for increasing contrast, also suitable for use with smaller telescopes. Many objects only first become visible at all when using an UHC filter. But also, highlights such as the Orion, Lagoon or Swan nebulae, show a whole new side to them. Can be used at both light-polluted and dark sky sites. Blocks the light from mercury and sodium-vapour lamps. 1.25" filter thread, each Astromania Ultra High Contrast Filter is individually inspected and proudly inscribed with the percentage of light transmittance of the O-III and H-beta emission lines. As many celestial objects, such as nebulae, radiate at other wavelengths, a considerable increase in contrast can be achieved by this. The background sky appears darker and all at once, faint details become visible.

Not worth the money

I think I expected more from this filter, all it did for me was make the stars blue I couldn't see more stars and couldn't do better see only blue.

Pros
  • Very good quality
Cons
  • Some flaws

It is as advertised, would recommend to a friend.

I tested this filter with my UPRtek spectrometer and the measured profile was as advertised. Now while waiting for a clear night I suspect this will work as advertised.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • The packaging is ugly

The nebula stands out very well

I used this UHC filter to view nebulae with the Orion M42 and it produces really excellent colours. Same thing happened when I pointed out the Pleidales M45, I was blown away! Great filter in my collection!

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • New competition is here

Amazing Nebula Filter

Used this one to see the great Orion Nebula and it really made it popular. I also have an O3 filter, but UHC seems to make it "pop" much better and with more natural colors - the O3 was a lot turquoise. I definitely recommend this filter.

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Has some quirks

Good budget filter for light fogs

If you have realistic expectations, try this great budget filter before switching to others, best for light fogs and dark places. Made a noticeable difference in contrast in the Saturn Nebula and hinted at the Lagoon Nebulae in heavy urban light pollution, but dimmed the light like all filters. Would buy again.

Pros
  • Easy to read panel
Cons
  • I will add later

Great filter for viewing from around town

Right now this is my favorite purchase for my new telescope. Now I can see the Orion Nebula (which I couldn't see with my cloudy sky). It's very faint, but now I can see it! One of my unexpected favorites to look at with this new filter is Betelgeuse because I can see it now and its color is much better. The filter is also supplied in a very nice sturdy case.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Little things

Surprised by the added detail

looks 6ft away, lives in the Bortle10 area, waiting for the moon to "set" at 3:30am. Viewing in Sagittarius, looking due south, 10 miles north of Charlotte. Went straight to the Lagoon Nebula. In the past I've tried a regular LPC (Light Pollution Filter) which helps. However, with LPC I could only see half of it. With UHC I could see both halves and a dark trail in the middle. A similar experience occurred with the Cygnus/Omega Nebula. Previously, only the swan's "body" was visible. Last nightโ€ฆ
