VERY DISAPPOINTED. for SLR camera lenses

This lens was not sharp at all, when I received this lens I tested it before my wedding next week and was very disappointed. And the ZOOM ring was very loud. I think it will go badly with Canon 70-200mm 2.8 III

  • Optical elements/groups 16/13

Cannot compete with the classic

I originally bought this when I was hired to shoot sports for a local newspaper. Would highly recommend for beginners or those on a budget who don't want to spend twice as much on a more modern 70-200mm lens that does the same.

Pros
  • Canon Date Code: UE0902
Cons

This lens was fantastic. I've owned it with both my 6D and .

This lens was fantastic. I've owned it with both my 6D and 5Dmkiii. For a 20 year old lens it still holds up in my opinion and outperforms newer versions in color and contrast. I have shot over 60 weddings with this lens and have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone. The savings are great and I never felt like it was lacking due to the lack of image stabilization. Buy it! You will not regret it!

Pros
  • Close focus: 5.9 ft (1.8 m) stated from the image plane

I'm in love with SLR lenses

This is the first version of the legendary line. It's heavy and built like a tank, its autofocus is faster than any non-sonic lens I've ever used, and it delivers excellent sharpness and color reproduction despite the 1993 replica lens I bought. There's a reason they called it the "magic drainpipe"! If you've got unlimited cash, the new 70-200 f/2.8 IS III USM and new RF are the only Canon 70-200s that are significantly better. Both are lighter and cost between $1,000 and $2,000 more than this…
