Picky Cheese Product

This thing is pretty awful. I don't believe the good reviews here. The key and latch mechanism to "unlock" a cat door is so finicky that you need it in the perfect spot to open the door. I myself can't get it to work 8 times out of 10, I have no idea how a cat can do that. When it finally appears to be active, most of the time the deadbolt is only half down, so the door still can't be opened. I just can't imagine my cats learning to open it. Also, the key should be hanging fairly low on theโ€ฆ

Good door, magnet problem

The door itself is easy to assemble and works well. The only problem, and I think it's a pretty big one, is that it works with a magnet that sticks to the cat's collar. I can only assume that the people who did this had never seen the cat or its collar before. Ring D, which the cat may have, is metal, and most often dog tags and the like are metal, as are attachment rings. I mentioned metal. what about a magnet? If you just stick it, you will find that the cute little magnet sticks to the metal

Life Changing Cat Door

I bought this cat door after an incident where all the neighbor's cats were having a party while we were away. And kicked out my cat. I've had this door for half a year now. I no longer have socks rolled up by my bed to throw at 4am when she thinks it's time to go outside. She didn't want to use it for about 3 weeks. I had to push them through every day. Now she is in complete control. My security cameras sometimes show them going in and out 10 times from midnight to 5am. So I've had severalโ€ฆ

Looks good. Ease of installation. So how do you train your cat to use it?

Looking good. Ease of installation. So how do you train your cat to use it? It's been a few weeks now and I'm struggling to get my cats to use this device. You're afraid of the door. Also, recommended cat collars hold the drive "wrong". You are not working. I'm surprised that the MOST IMPORTANT element in a device, getting your pet to use it, is completely ignored. I would contact the seller but there is no mechanism for that. Steps I've taken to train cats: 1. Installed magnets on collars2โ€ฆ

The door works, but it may take a long time for the cat to learn to use it.

I cannot fault the performance of this unit as it works as advertised. However, the design is a bit out of my cat's liking. My cat uses it to go outside but not to get in, which is why the cat meows outside the door. I think what happened is that the cat door abuts the door from the inside, making it easier for him to put his head in. But on the outside, there is a large 4 inch "tongue" platform that comes out from the bottom of the cat door, so the cat has to step onto that platform firstโ€ฆ

very satisfied best at Cat Doors

I ordered this product in May and now it is January. It took my cat almost a month to get used to it. I no longer have to worry about stray animals (the day I ordered this product, I found stray animals in my living room). I have visited my family twice since this was installed and it gave me peace of mind that if my cat came out it could come back. Someone used to come to me to check on him once a day and he should stay at home since I wasn't at home to let him in and out, he didn't like toโ€ฆ

Cat-a-strophic for creatures that are not allowed to enter/exit my barn.

I have an unexpected "crop" of 6 kittens born to a wild cat on my ranch. Mom (crazy) lashed out as soon as she could take the kittens away but I adopted them and now they live a spoiled life as they have their own automatic door to my barn. I didn't even bother to read the instructions. Installation is easy (well, it was in the shed) and the hardest part was installing the magnets on the new cat "necklaces". It's not the magnet's fault, just arthritis. My kittens are around 13 weeks old andโ€ฆ

You can make it work, but it takes some work

So, full disclosure, getting my cat to use that door wasn't easy, and most of it was the magnetic collar. I was able to tell why the lock wasn't working when my cat approached and it had to do with where this thing sat on my cat when it was on the collar. Basically, I had to do a few do-it-yourself steps and a few steps to prepare my cat for long-term use. I followed the height guidelines when installing the door, but in order for my cat to learn how to use the door, I had to remove theโ€ฆ
