Nice grip, but is it really 1.75mm?

I love the Clover hooks for their comfortable grip, but I have questions about their size. I had a project that required a 1.75mm hook and specialty thread so I settled on this one. It was an amigurumi so I expected it to be very tight and I tend to work tight anyway, but the hook still felt too small. The piece ended up looking very odd so I started troubleshooting and decided I really needed a bigger hook. I started looking through my hook stash and found a 1.80 boilie. It was the same size…

Best hook except

I crochet A LOT! I do gifts, but mostly I make hats for newborns, cancer patients and the homeless. I use all types of stitches and multiple weights of yarn. Sometimes I can knit 2-3 hours a day listening to a really good book. I've tried every hook from the cheapest all metal hooks to the best Boye hooks. I have certain preferences for a good hook, with my "must" requirements being an ergonomic handle, a smooth hook and shank, and a hook that won't break my yarn on a straight or pull stroke (I

Quickly strains your fingers!

Hooks of this series are not sold. I fell in love with the Clover brand for their bamboo, acrylic hooks and knitting needles. I'm still a fan of the brand but not the Amour series. The hook is aluminum yes but I find it a bit rough which doesn't give me the best glide. Other brands that I think have the best quality aluminum are Boye, Sudana Bates and Loops and threads.
