Hard but with exposed teeth

Just received the knife and it looks solid. The fact that the teeth are still exposed even when the knife is folded down doesn't bother me. I have to give 4 stars because time will tell. but so far it looks good and solid. I will update my review if anything goes wrong. :)

Excellent saw. best in hand tools

I am a woman in my 70's and every year I have to cut down trees that grow on several steep slopes on my property. I have absolutely no problem felling trees with this wonderful saw. I really appreciate that it can be folded as the slopes are slippery at times. When cutting, I sit on the slope so I don't have to bend down and the trees fall down the slope below me. Most of them are about 2 or 3 inches in diameter, but I cut a few pieces that are 4 or 5 inches in diameter. Since I've had a saw…

Use it professionally. Only I have a small shortcoming.

I have 2 10" folding saws and 1 12" folding saw that I use daily as an ISA certified arborist. Conveniently stows in my side pocket when wearing a saddle; I always open easily and close securely; stays sharp for a long time; GREAT prices here at Revain. The only thing that worries me is that every single one of them had a blade hinge screw falling out or almost falling out. Until you replace the nut with a nylon locknut (my choice is a stainless steel nut with a nylon insert) or apply a liquid…

#1 camping saw IMO.

This is my second 10" Carona folding saw. My first lasted four years before showing signs of dullness. It still cuts well after years of heavy use, but I can definitely see a difference the next time I use it. to a brand new one. I have used this new one on kayaking and camping trips. It's lightweight, works great with logs up to 5 inches in diameter, and takes up very little space. They're tough little workhorses. I've exposed them to rain, dunked them in salt water, knotted and severely bent…

Keep it indoors for garden and lawn maintenance

It cuts as efficiently as a sharp saw. Control is better and it leaves a cut that looks like it's been sanded down. It is more convenient and safe to carry. She will go where the bowsaw cannot. When pruning, she finishes the job by making a cut flush with the trunk. I use it and pruners mainly for the first phase of recycling a branch or tree. It will handle a 5" kerf fairly well, but I'm happy to take a chainsaw after I've taken care of a 2" or less kerf. To save time I kept them in an open…

LOTS of saws in one small package. I .

LOTS of saws in one small package. I used this thing to chop down 4 fallen 25 foot trees for firewood in about 2 hours. Probably about 6 inches in diameter at base. We had the biggest fire I've ever lit on a hike. Two people I was dating also decided to buy this saw after using it. It's very light and the chrome-plated blade won't snag. even when sawing wood that is not completely dry. UPDATE 4/16/17 - I used this saw for a total of 8 days on a hike. The blade is SIGNIFICANTLY blunt. It still…

Cons
  • Something different

Big knife, its smaller Corona 7240 (discontinued?) is a much better tool for pruning small branches and trees. However, it is a gem for large trees up to 7-8 or larger in diameter (2-4 sided cuts). However, and this makes a big difference to me on long hikes and hikes, this knife is curved and so long that it doesn't fold to hide all the teeth. This is a HUGE problem with items that cannot or should not be exposed to sharp objects. When I'm out in the outback for up to a week this item can…

Great saw for all ages

I had a larger version of this saw and fell in love with it. I took 2 smaller saws. One for mom and one for son. This saw is suitable for children, adults, grandparents. I like the fact that it opens and closes. Many common folding saws do not lock when closed. A recipe for disaster if you ask me. I don't like the idea that something sharp can pop open on its own. This saw is suitable for household chores and also for those of us who enjoy camping and hiking. This saw cuts on the pull stroke so

Just buy it. Period.

So I trimmed my big old tree in my front yard so local passers-by wouldn't have to swerve. I used a good 16" Fiskars extension for this part. Now that everything on my sidewalk, lawn and front yard was destroyed I had to trim it a bit to get it to moveable dimensions. It couldn't stay there. It had to be postponed. And that's where this little guy comes in. God, I couldn't be more impressed. This little kid cut everything like butter. After I got up and looked up, cut and cut, my neck and back…
