No calibration or read connectivity

If you're just measuring pink noise or 1000Hz sound or just the noise level of something, this is great. But I quickly found that it wasn't very good as an accurate C-weighted meter. 1) It was not possible to calibrate it. 2) I just had to write down my results for each frequency. Some devices have the ability to display frequency bands. Some can be connected via USB. There is no way out.

Great for my needs

Great for me. I am very hard of hearing and my main considerations when buying a new car are the volume and the ability to have a conversation in the car under normal road and highway conditions. To eliminate subjectivity, I test cars on the same roads with a sound level meter and record the noise levels at idle, slow speed, freeway speed, and freeway speed. My wife looks at the meter and notes the sound levels next to my ear. This unit had a slightly wider frequency response and range of sound

Readings are inaccurate and unreliable

After using this meter for more than 2 months to calibrate surround sound rooms, this monitor consistently shows higher dB levels than they actually are, resulting in a miscalibration of the audible levels. The readings seem consistent so you tend to trust them, but they are very inaccurate and there's no way to know without comparing them to other gauges in the same area. I finally found out by comparing this meter to others after complaining about low sound levels in calibrated rooms. It has…

Great tool for sound and noise meters

At first glance, the sound pressure meter almost looks like a toy. However, this is an amazing product. I bought it primarily to check my receiver's sound levels to set safe sound levels, but I was able to use it to check the Audissey XT balance the receiver was making. In the test environment where I balanced the stereo sound, the Pyle SPL showed the same DBA rating for all channels. DBC ("C”-weighted decibels) is used to balance stereo systems, but I was able to ensure that the noise level at

Good value for money features offered.

This is a good sound pressure meter that offers some features that cheaper options don't have. Maximum retention, screen backlight, switchable between A and C ratings and Hi/Lo bands. While it's not certified like the much more expensive gauges, I trust it more than the widely available cheaper A-only options, and I also find it more accurate than any mobile app. The instructions are clear enough, but don't provide any information on whether this device can be further calibrated if you have…
