Ideal for plastic and possibly very soft metal like brass

Probably ideal for plastic or very soft metal like brass but not steel or aluminium. With my drill press, a vise, and some oil, the drill bit easily cut through the side of the nut. The faucet was another problem. At first it came in normally but with some oil it twisted twice, loosened once I had about 3-4 turns but the tap is too thin and brittle and will break with the slightest sideways movement. Luckily the drill managed to drill at least part of the tap out of the nut.

Be very light about it!

I use this kit for 1/64 scale diecast car modifications. The metal I'm tapping on isn't the hard, soft metal used on Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars. The drill cut off after about 10 uses, became dull after 5 holes. The crane itself lived a little longer, but suffered the same fate. I am careful when winding to avoid braking or stressing the tool, even with careful handling and lubrication I still managed to break the tap and vice versa! I use finger pressure to avoid over turning the faucet. I…

  • I don't remember but there was something

The whole set is absolute junk. I was planning on using this for drilling and tapping cheap Hot Wheels cast alloys. This metal is very soft. The drill took forever to drill the 1/8" depth I needed. And then the tap began to break and ran the threads into the very first drilled hole. I now have a broken faucet in a custom hot wheel Cast and I will most likely have to throw this one out And for anyone who says this there has been no abuse with this set (too hard) and the faucet was used with the…
