I like it, but I read the manual

Pretty much everything except setting the clock is intuitive, apart from using the USB port to charge another device. Usually you just plug it in and it works, but for this radio you need to plug in a cable (to the radio and a charger like a phone), turn the radio on with the power button, then hold M until your device shows it's consuming power and loads. I was very confused as to why it wasn't working the first time I took it out of my pocket to charge my phone. Luckily it wasn't anโ€ฆ

Cheap crap for portable audio and video

When they called Eton and asked them about their walkie-talkie, they told me it was their only waterproof walkie-talkie in production. I bit the bullet and spent about $55 on it. Part of my reasoning was that the price would be justified by its versatility. Boy was I wrong. My goal was to have a weather radio while traveling in the desert. I kept my radio in a pannier to better protect it on its first foray into the wilderness. It worked fine. I checked it again before another trip and itโ€ฆ

This thing is elegant and kinda cool looking. Put one in your pocket!

Just had this with me this afternoon and I'm really excited about this thing. First, it's harder than I thought it would be, which is good. It has a nice solid feel and I think even if this thing were a little cracked it would be fine. The idea that you end up with an item that can be used more than once also appeals to me, and I love the fact that it can be charged multiple ways. There's a solar panel, for example, which I haven't tested as I've just received it, but the built in doomsdayโ€ฆ

I would give 0 stars if that was an option.

This radio worked very well for several weeks. I use it every day despite numerous problems with it. Before purchasing, I watched a review on YouTube where the reviewer described the longevity of this radio. The video review I am writing about showed the dynamo handle and antenna breaking. I checked this review before purchasing and thought carefully about these critical failure points. Despite the careful handling of this radio, I also had the antenna crank and brake. In addition, theโ€ฆ

So far so good.: Radio station

Well I've been using this Eton Scorpion II for about 2 months now and I have to say that overall I'm very happy with it but had to deduct another star/rating , because the solar panel function of the device does not meet the "IPX/Waterproof" classification. On a sunny day with about 8 hours of direct sunlight I got 2 bars on the battery gauge (maximum 3 bars). Others only have 1 bar. Other loading functions work pretty well. Socket and crank (although you'll have to turn it) a few minutes toโ€ฆ

A worthy upgrade from the original Scorpion

This radio is advertised as having an 800mah internal battery but when mine arrived I opened it up and found a 400mah lithium polymer battery inside. I'm not sure what chemistry a proper 800mAh should have (lithium polymer or nickel cadmium) but I've ordered a second one and will see what comes with it and then update this review. UPDATE: The second radio also had a 400mAh Great Power lithium polymer battery inside. I have asked Eton customer service for an explanation. UPDATE #2: An Etonโ€ฆ
