Installation trick for a BIG product.

This is an AMAZING item but you must READ THE MANUAL to determine your toilet floor flange installation configuration. When installed by you or your operator, almost someone has to sit on the toilet to squeeze the Fluidmaster toilet seal so the knot can be tightened at the bottom. Yes, have someone SIT on the toilet with the lid down and then have someone else tighten the two mounting bolts that attach the toilet to the floor. You MUST tighten evenly - make a turn or two on the left mounting…

Works as intended for toilet parts

Bought because of a leaking toilet. Lifting the toilet revealed that the old wax ring was the obvious source of the leak. The flange was below ground level, but not by much. I used a gasket and a gasket/seal as instructed. Comes with plastic washers to hold the screws in place which was nice. I put the toilet back in place once, pulled it out again and inspected. Everything looked fine so back in place. The width of the gasket and gasket made the toilet bounce off the floor a bit, but applying…

Evil Mario drilled into our house

Back in the day when people built their houses from what they found outside, some madman built this place. The bathroom built into the annex of this house was designed by someone who was inspired by the evil Super Mario. So, the toilet has two bolts, and where one can be hand tightened, the other is like a tent pole they were trying to hit the oil with. The wax seal eventually gave way and I was afraid I would have to do it. You can't see the flange because the lunatic who lived here before us…

Not for all toilet/flange combinations.

Realizing that all wax seals will eventually fail, I researched alternatives and bought a Danco seal and this Fluidmaster rubber seal in case either one didn't work properly. The toilet it was intended to be used with is about a year old and belongs to the standard American "mainstream" family. The floor is tiled and level. The toilet flange is the newest PVC flange that Oatey makes, is "above the floor" and flush. The packaging of this Fluidmaster seal says it "FITS ANY FLANGE". sit flush with

A good system when it fits your flange

Like - flexible, the toilet can be moved, removed and reinstalled without affecting the seal. - forgive if the flange is a little high or low or not level - the toilet may wobble a little and maintain a tight seal. I don't like it - it's not suitable for my application. If you have a fairly new home with PVC drain and sewer pipes, these foam grommets are the right size. My old house has cast iron sewer pipes with a flange on the outside. The flange diameter is larger than that of this gasket. I
