Get this one, not someone else's.

After trying the dead brand on arrival and sending it back I settled on the opener manufacturer's product. You gather right in the kitchen at the table, then mount the pole to your pole and connect the wires.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Some issues

Great addition to our gate opener

I like it so far. It has been around six weeks since installation (which was easy) and the battery on our front gate is holding a charge. We don't use Users much because we probably only open and close it 3 or 4 times a day.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Frequency

Works well no complaints

I don't know what cleanliness is lol but it charges the battery and can open and close the gate many times a day without draining the battery am Late winter and during snow hours. Not sure how it will hold up in the shortest of winter days, but so far I'm not disappointed.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Not everything fits

doesn't last! - Hardware

I bought my solar panel from May Mule thinking there was a better product. Well I'm on the mend. Worked for exactly a year until it stopped working. For the price I expected a longer lifespan. I would take your money and just buy another brand. The only reason for two stars is the fact that the installation kit and frame were pretty good and didn't look like eye-popping.

Pros
  • Easy Installation
Cons
  • Gotchas

Good product. Easy install

Works great! Works so well someone stole my relatives. A friend originally recommended this product to us! We have them on all our gates. It copes very well with coastal weather. It is 100% exposed to: rain; Fog, haze, heavy rain, hail, etc. Wind; +50km/h. temperatures; 28°F - 70°F (not too hot).

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Long delivery time

More expensive than 3rd party but works

No installation problems. Easily assembled. The mount and hardware were a bit heavier than the third-party solar charger I originally tried. It didn't work with the MM271 controller. The MM charger worked without any problems. Make sure your battery is at least 12.5V when fully charged. My original battery was 12v which put out 12v and although the opener worked it beeped every 20 seconds.

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • Almost never

This whole system was a waste of money and a bunch of junk

This whole system was a waste of money and a bunch of junk. We bought two batteries and a solar panel and they all died within 2 months of use - right before the return window. We only used the gate once a day and were in a very sunny spot with direct sunlight all day. At least Home Depot accepted the return of the gate openers. When asked why he died and had no charge, Mighty Mules' response was "Keep trying different batteries, maybe one of them will work." This is not a solution. This is a…

10W solar panel charger

Bought this panel due to constant problems with lightning strikes destroying the board on my Mighty Mule. It seems that whenever there was a thunderstorm nearby, the current would somehow affect the wires of my transformer and cause a surge of power that not only destroyed the circuit board but also ripped out the transformer. The last blow even destroyed the cables, which made further charging of the batteries with a voltage of 110 V impossible. Then I was forced to buy a panel for charging…
