Waste of time and money

I followed the instructions exactly and my door looked TERRIBLE, striped and just plain awful. I do not recommend this product at all! I am so disappointed with the results. I ended up painting the door with cheap hardware store paint. Much better results than this expensive and inefficient kit. I never write reviews but feel it my duty to warn anyone considering this product. Do not buy!

  • Durable finish

  • Vulgarity

Even though this color is Best in Colour, Wall Care and Accessories

I loved how easy the whole process was! Definitely more time than stated. The door never dried in 30 minutes and I have found that if it is not completely dry when you try to apply another coat any previous coats of stain will wear away. I'm giving it 1 star because the color isn't nearly as advertised. I ordered royal mahogany and from the box and online it should be dark and maroon. I applied 100% as directed and my door is a medium brownish purple color. It's ugly and definitely not what was

Looks AWESOME and is very easy to use

I chose Honey Oak because I wanted to warm up my black and white home with wood accents. I've used this on porch posts and beams and over windows. The only thing I didn't do as suggested in the instructions was to use a wooden yoke, not a fluffy handle. I think it looks like real wood and am very happy with it. I got a few compliments and everyone said they thought it was a real tree until I said otherwise. I want to use this indoors on some of my ceilings as well as some of my painted…

Great example of process trust

I think it's expensive for what it contains because it's such a small container. That leaves you with just enough to paint the door (no bugs, lol). He brings a rag, a small handle, a brush, a wooden stick for mixing paint, primer and paint. It was also supposed to come with an item to apply paint while painting, but I didn't have one, I just used old Tupperware paraphernalia. First you prime, paint the door and really start to worry that you made a colossal mistake. Then you wait for it to dry…

  • Out of fashion

Surprised with the result - used on previously painted metal doors

We had old but well maintained metal front and side doors and wanted something nicer for no money. I figured why not try it as the reviews were split and the price was right. Cons - Takes a long time when it's humid outside (probably wait until fall if recommended) - Pretty long time to get it right - Make sure the primer/primer is applied well, otherwise wherever you go have "old" color, translucent when stained. We used the masking tape method for the contour lines, there was some peeling off

  • Some small things

I liked the end product, the process needs improvement. UPDATED 11/28/2021

I am a thorough reviewer so I will try to summarize as best as I can. Overall I love my end product, I bought two sets of black walnut wood for either side of my front door. My husband was tired and couldn't imagine it would work, but he ended up becoming a bigger fan than me. That doesn't mean there weren't any problems. Problem 1 - adhesive tape; I was skeptical that the process could be that quick given the use of tape to separate the vertical and horizontal sections. I was just imagining…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
