came folded like origami

The parts themselves are fine but the packaging rendered them unusable because they have been folded many times and the seals are all bent and broken

Pros
  • quality construction
Cons
  • disappears

A torque wrench is optional!

A lot of people think that small engines are so damn simple they work like crap. If you follow best practices and torque specifications, these cheap parts will help you cut your braid. Torque to spec and set the rocker arm for valve clearance after installation and you're spot on. At least I was.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Only available in white

Perfect fit, use copper sealant to extend service life.

Fits my Briggs and Stratton OHV 18.5 single cylinder engine. These B&S engines have a design flaw or weak point where the pushrods go through the block. This thin area where the cap screw is missing is where the gasket is blown out. I recommend using a Permatex sealant for copper head gaskets. This will harden the seal and you may have more than two to three years before it explodes again.

Pros
  • One year trial period
Cons
  • Can't remember but there was something

The intake manifold gasket did not match my engine.

good price for a complete set as in the photo. The quality of the parts was also good. My engine runs about 5 hours without any problems. 17 hp model My only complaint is that the intake manifold gasket didn't fit. The Rhe bolt pattern has been disabled. I reused the original as it was good enough to use. The only place I decided to use the RTV, and then just out of habit, was on the valve cover. Otherwise, a cheap kit and silver is my problem. The delivery was quick too.

Pros
  • a beautiful thing
Cons
  • possibility of exchange

Quality is ok but it is not OEM

I bought an OEM B&S a while ago, forgot about it and bought this one too. Compared to the OEM this head gasket has no reinforcement in the combustion chamber area and the material itself has a softer feel so I'm sure like all of them it will eventually fail. The Briggs OEM head gasket has an extra layer or material around the cylinder bore so the gasket has maximum traction in that area after the head is bolted in, which should help extend its life. I went with the OEM (works as expected) and…

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Damaged
