Unaesthetic

I think this plate did what it was supposed to do. It covers the space where the old thermostat used to be. I don't know who designed it, but it was a bad idea. Why do the edges curl away from the wall? This creates an area that traps dirt/debris; and it is not pleasing to the eye. This literally makes the thermostat look like a soup bowl sitting on a bowl on the wall. Had to take it off and send it back so I could get a third party wall plate. This design was a mistake.

limited how much you can buy

Product was fine. agree with others. I'm not sure why it has to stick out so far. I bought 3 Nest thermostats and didn't realize I had to order a trim kit. I ordered 2 with no problems. Tried to order another one and Revane said I couldn't order more. For real? Which company says we don't need your money. Support contacted. useless. They said they can't help because it's a global environment. No questions. Goes on sale on Saturday. I assume they will take my money.

Does what it's supposed to do

This is a plastic cover for a hole in the wall and it does exactly that. I'm not sure of its strength, but it doesn't look like anyone is using it. The glassy surface is very annoying. And sometimes you want to see the temperature from a distance but the screen is off because it only turns on when someone is nearby. There must be another way to only see the temperature remotely and save energy at the same time. Star deduction is related to price and cash raising.

Comes with everything I need and serves its purpose.

The last thermostat I had was from Vivint and it was a disastrous installation by a technician using 3M tape on my wall because he didn't have a backing plate for the electrical box in my wall. Opening. He taped the whole block to the wall like an idiot because the first time I had to change batteries I basically had to rip it off the 3M tape, ruining my wall. /end rant Anyway, despite the fairing kit's ugly design, Google provided a much-needed backplate, and installing my new Nest E (which I…

Ugly and misses the point when it comes to the disguise set.

The sole purpose of the trim kit is to be able to plug a large hole if the thermostat is too small. Why on earth would the holes in the fairing kit be in the same position as the thermostat holes? The big hole I'm trying to plug can't obviously be plugged with the thermostat alone, and the screw holes just lead down the abyss of the big hole I need to plug. The screw holes should be on the edges where the wall will be! Bad design! I had to use command strips and the disguise set is so bulky it…

Ideal for quick rental repairs

Well, we actually rented out our house, but still wanted to install a smart thermostat. We have a rabbit that lives indoors and he wanted to be able to control the temperature when we weren't home so a nest thermostat was the best choice. However, our house is old and when we removed the old standard box there was a huge hole behind it that didn't cover the nest. This plate covers all the space we needed. This was an easy fix considering this wasn't our house and we didn't want to pay for a…

Screws included do not fit new Google Nest thermostat

I ordered this not knowing it no longer comes with Nest thermostats (I remember it came with my Nest E -thermostat was supplied). However, when it arrived I discovered that the underside of my NEW Google Nest thermostat had grooves that screws were supposed to fit in, which they don't. The diameter of the screw head is larger than the intended space, and the substrate will not snap by oversize. Now this baseplate can work well with the old Nest E-Thermostat (although I have it, I didn't want to

Uglier than the nest e. I had to buy it separately

I don't understand why it's $15. It's a piece of plastic and a metal plate that probably only cost $1 to make. I've already paid $130 for a goddamn thermostat, why are you asking me more to make it look good? Oh, and it looks awful. I don't know why this thing is expanding outwards instead of crashing into the wall and now flattening it causing the thermostat to stick out. Luckily he's in a hall where there aren't many people, but if he were you might be able to catch him walking by. I prefer…
