Great for hobbyists or occasional users

Bearings were rough at first. I had to do a little work on the lathe to break them in. Then I oiled them again and they are ready to go. Do this before you start an important project.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Very expensive

High quality residential center.

For the price I couldn't have expected better quality than most other HHIP products. The bearings are nice and work great under load, the front end is removable for maintenance, and most importantly, the accuracy is what I've come to expect from a product that easily costs twice as much. All in all, a very good purchase that will probably accompany my lathe for many years to come.

MT1 Live hub would not spin

The MT1 Live hub would not spin and I was unable to unscrew it with as much torque as possible. Kroil (penetrating oil) eventually loosened it up but I could feel loose material in the bearings and the bearings didn't feel right either. I suspect it wasn't lubricated at the factory so I sent it back to Revain. Also, the body was bare steel, with no rings, as in the pictures. However, it was in the box with the correct part number. The "Certificate of Quality" was dated either 2011 or 2018 as…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Socket required
