Best souvenir stored in Clock Hardware

Our clock from the company we owned started to fail. It was either a new mechanism or processing. Got a quartz movement, changed it in a few minutes and now it's like new.

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • No performance

Keep the old watch hands

Most shank sizes are the same or almost the same. If you have a watch with a specific style of hands, you can probably use those hands with that movement. Replaced the old mechanism with this one and now after about a month or so they are showing the exact time.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Good thing it's cheap

I've used them in the past for various projects and this time I repaired/restored my daughter's clock she made in art class. The arms are fairly strong and fitted but not too tight. Everything came together just right, and given the design and price, that's pretty accurate. We particularly liked that there was a choice if she decided to change hands later.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Negative experience

Works as described. But

I built a home made dial and this movement matches the description. Today I looked at the time 7 times and the last 13 hours it was exactly on the money. The only drawback is the ticking second hand. I have this watch in my shop and it's my quiet place when the tools are resting. I'm a good 20 feet away (midnight, no other noise) and I can hear it ticking. So I'll order a quiet one. Personal choice but a flawless watch nonetheless. I spray-painted my arms to match the theme.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • There are flaws

The hour hand died in less than a year.

I had high hopes for this replacement mechanism. It was identical to the 20 year old Pottery Barn movement, a cheap plastic movement powered by a single AA battery. They were relatively easy to replace and have been working fine (albeit at times slower) as of January 2020. But two weeks ago the hour hand made a mistake and is now depressingly stuck at 6. When I took the clock off the wall the hour hand just oscillates freely. .I wasn't counting on the 20 years I got from the original Pottery…

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
