Hooke Road 1997 2006 Wrangler Unlimited Exterior Accessories Review

This is an amazing and inexpensive way to make your grill pop. 5 minutes to install and you're done. No double-sided tape, no overheating. Not sure what the other reviewers got, but these just slide into place and you're done.

I cleaned the grid with rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth and then put it on after 5 minutes. The tape is cut about every 3/4 inch, but not all the way. After reading some of the reviews I figured I would have to remove 50-100 little stickers for each. There was no such thing. Only four out of five stars because there is no cut-out to open the hood. I'll do it myself so it's no big deal.

So far in 3 months they have not let me down. The tape doesn't seem to work, but it works. My experience with tape like this is that it needs to be installed in a warm environment. If it is very cold outside, wait until the temperature exceeds 40 degrees. The adhesive backing is difficult to remove, but it's ok with this type of tape. Insert the grill insert and press firmly for about 30 seconds. They look great and hide unsightly metal parts behind the bars.

I love these grill inserts! I had a makeshift radiator guard behind the grill which I made out of fine mesh to keep rocks and sticks from getting into the radiator but I wanted to update it to look more finished and I'm so glad that I did it! They mount directly to the grille, making for a very quick installation, and in addition to the added protection from road and off-road debris, you also get a really nice armored look. They look great on my 2004 TJ Sport. They fit perfectly and are flush, super tight. There is a trick to installing it. I didn't have any instructions, so trial/error. The inserts look the same at both ends but are actually directional, which must be due to the curvature of the grating. The first one I tried didn't fit flush, I didn't know they were straightened at the time. I ordered these, I was tired of sticks and leaves getting in my radiator, I was afraid that one day I would puncture it on the way. Despite being plastic, they look pretty solid. I gave it 5 stars for adhesion because they don't actually use glue to stick, they use tension clamps. They snap on really well and if I ever want to take them off I don't have to worry about cleaning up the pile of old glue rings on the front of my grill (which I also plan to repaint at some point). I am glad that such a product exists. The problem I would have in the fall season is leaves and dirt getting into the grate opening. It would always be clogged with leaves and thus block the radiator. These snap-on grille clips get the job done and are inexpensive enough not to complain. Despite the great design, it doesn't have a hole for my Tuffy hood latch. The ABS material was soft enough that I was able to enlarge the hole just enough to fit my key in the lock. At the same time I got a black Hooke Road front grille with clips and mesh inserts on a Hooke Road Wrangler TJ Matte Black. Both are very high quality and look great, especially when mounted together. The 2 sets fit together perfectly which is a problem when buying. Installing the trellis insert was literally a snap!
