Easy install is best for rough plumbing

I'm not sure how much this will help me pay my electric bills but it's not that difficult to install. I would like to point out a few things. Be careful when removing the paper from the label. Keep a close eye on it because it tears and it's really difficult to start over again. I went against the instructions and worked from the bottom up. I've added some photos how to deal with putting on the top. Simply make slits with scissors every 4-5 inches around the top circle and it folds neatly…

Keep your notes until you're done

We wanted the water to stay as hot as possible to extend our morning showers. This product went pretty much as described. The double sided tape makes it difficult to attach to the back of the wall, but I figured out how to do it pretty quickly. I have an 80 gallon heater and with all 3 strips (2 x 24" and 1 x 15") I had about a 5" open gap at the top. I saved and used the trimmed ends from each piece and had enough to fill the gap DO NOT REMOVE THE WILT FROM THE CUT UNTIL YOU MAKE AS MUCH AS…

Worth the Trouble - Water Heater and Parts

My 50 gallon water heater is in the basement under my house. It can get pretty cold there in winter. Although this heater is only 2 years old. Recently decided to install a heater. After reading several reviews I decided on this blanket. I read two complaints about this product - poor instructions and unsuitable tape. I haven't experienced it either. There are two tape products they refer to. They are a roll of metal tape used to attach/glue parts together. The other tape is double-sided tape…

My heater now looks like an upside down ice cream cone :) lol

I have a 50 gallon water heater and it's short and fat rather than tall and skinny. My basement is mostly finished, so it's not that cold in there. I wrapped my heater in it and there was still a lot of stuff in there so I just kept wrapping it. I didn't glue it all the way around, I just glued it to the front so I can take it off if I need it for some reason. My water heater has a plate and then a long piece of copper hanging a few inches from the plate and then a drain underneath. In order…

You need patience, knowledge of measurements and nails!

It took me just over two hours to measure, cut, connect, wrap and glue the two large pieces that came for my 40 gallon tank myself. Luckily I have some free space to work with, which makes wrapping and tapping the seams easier. The supplied top piece (oval) was measured, cut and glued to the top of the 24" piece and to the top of the tank around the vent. I worked from the bottom up. The problem I had was detaching the paper strips from the strips of tape in each 24 inch piece that adhere to…
