Works but quality control is poor

Purchased to make replacement treadmill cords. Makes beautiful curls. I'm no pushover, but I'll tell you that big crimps require a lot of crimping force. Although quality control is weak. Each handle has a nut that requires a screw on each side to stiffen the handle. I was missing 2 screws. See photos. I installed the missing 2 to provide stronger grips.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Nothing here

Compact Crimping Tool

. I use this tool to crimp 5 and 7 wire 1/16" stainless steel wire. I have not attempted to crimp larger wire as it does not require one hand to crimp while leaning on a hard muscle I think adjustable pressure settings might help (no experience yet) I like the compact size for working in tight spaces If you're not working in tight spaces or with a big cable I'd go with one Choose tools with longer arms for extra leverage.

Really good quality crimping tool

Advantages: Really high quality crimping tool. This thing is nearly indestructible - the jaws are adjustable to provide an incredibly tight, no-slip wire terminal crimp. Cons: Because it's built like a tank, it's very heavy and long. Therefore, using it in tight spaces and eating your Wheaties before use is impractical as it takes quite a bit of force to fully close the compound jaws. Don't get me wrong, I'm going to address weight and size because the finished dies are amazing. And I'm sureโ€ฆ

  • Perfect for outdoor activities

Inexpensive crimping tool

This tool only has one disadvantage: it is difficult to adapt to different lug and cable diameters. You'll need to loosen the two nuts on the back of the tool, change the diameter settings for both sides of the tool (they don't always lock properly, by the way. Keep an eye on it), then retighten the nuts. Descent. On top of that, it's a really solid crimping tool, and it was really reasonably priced. If you're looking for something you'll use every day: skip this section. However, if you onlyโ€ฆ

Doesn't work properly

Understanding that while the cable size (1/8 inch) may be the same everywhere, the sockets may not be a standard gauge and this may be at the root of my problem. I ordered the cable, sleeves and this tool from Revain (various suppliers) and have not tried the sleeves at my local hardware store. If that's the case and it turns out to be a problem, I'll update this post. For 1/8" wire and ferrule, this tool did NOT crimp like the video in the Revain ad (the one posted in the ad) and does not look

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Negative experience
