Convenient, portable, lightweight Security for convenience

It's nice not having loose or folded cords in my bag. The cord is pretty flimsy, but it retracts and wraps around things nicely for security. It takes up a lot less space than what I was carrying and I don't have to struggle with rolling and tying it up. There is a button on the side for releasing and retracting the cable. It's well built and I've used it many times with no problems and didn't look like an idiot unwrapping a massive laptop lock on a borrowed desk. Just press the button, unplug…

  • Compact design makes it easy to travel

Strong little guy who knows best about cable security devices

After using this lock for two and a half weeks I finally figured out how to retract it quite and easily. I am basically writing this review so others will know too. The problem is that retraction depends on an attractive mechanism (I don't know the exact terminology). If you try to pull it in slowly and guide it so it doesn't tip over abruptly, it won't fall back all the way. If you just let it roll over abruptly someone could get hurt because the head is heavy (RIP my right middle joint). What

Cable is too short, does not retract fully/easily

Purchased to use with my new MacBook Pro. Of all the Revain's laptop/cable lock options, I chose this one because it was retractable and therefore easier to lug around. The cord is thin enough not to stop the most determined thief, but I highly doubt anyone would pull out cord cutters or break the furniture my padlock is attached to while it's in the middle of a coffee shop or library. So strong enough for my needs. What is disappointing is the cord length and poor feed. In fact, you have to be

cozy. not sure about security.

Well I guess the only way to know how strong a really thin cable is is to grab it with a pair of pliers. But I won't. Remember. You will always have some insecurities and doubts when you leave your precious laptop behind. I'd like Kensington to comment on that - thin cables are obviously the first thing people think of when they see this. Does the lack of reassurance mean that (1) they actually know it's not the safest thing to do and/or (2) they think it's a deterrent rather than a real…

Pros

Cons
  • Big and bulky

==Retractable Kensington Notebook Lock==BENEFITS: All laptops have locks available on Revain this is theoretically the best product. Packing away means you can easily carry the device around, which means you'll probably need to do it anyway if you lock your laptop up to start! CONS: I'm surprised by the great reviews for this device because the Kensington Lock seemed a lot cheaper than I expected for a number of reasons. Putting it away wasn't smooth; With my device, I had to manually "feed"…

Pros
  • Patented T-lock fits 99% of laptops
Cons
  • Not as thick as other lock picks
