Essential for Duramax owners

If you are replacing your water pump with a Duramax this is the tool you need along with the tool available here at Revain (EZ Red 3/4 inch retractable ratchet), you can't go wrong make Very fast shipping and made sturdy

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • weak

The right tool for the job.

Pulling the starter to lock the flywheel is difficult. This tool is placed under an easily removable control panel. Holding the motor while I loosened (and tightened) the crank pulley on my Duramax worked great - that's almost 300 ft lbs.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Weight

good tool. Costs money.

Duramax water pump replacement is much easier! Including 2 flywheel holders. One for 3/4 and 1 ton models. And another for large models. The socket works great. I would also recommend purchasing a fan pulley holding tool to replace the water pump. Makes work a lot easier.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Not the best

I was VERY glad I bought this

. I needed to build a water pump for a 6.6 Chevy Duramax. I was VERY glad I bought this. The head fitted the nut perfectly and the flywheel holder worked like a dream. Stayed in the bell housing when I started the crankshaft and stayed until I took it off. This made working with the water pump much more pleasant and made it run much faster. If you are thinking of building your own water pump and purchasing this tool, DO IT

Pros
  • Excellent Design
Cons
  • Expensive

A little tip about the flywheel tool

Absolutely worth the money if you are looking to replace the water pump in your truck. Much easier to remove the starter. Work with your mind, not with force! One thing you need to know when using a flywheel lock that simply engages. You should check this every time you loosen or tighten the harmonic balancer bolt as the flywheel lock can move and then bind and you will have to pry or knock it out of the groove.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Secret

Here's a great prize!

Of course you could get this kit from the tool trolley, but here you can steal it! I've used them on a few Duramaxes with no problem and the cross pins last over 300 ft lbs. The tools are as strong as new. With this tool you don't have to worry about starting the engine. However, I suggest if you don't use a 3/4 drive at all and want to use this connector, get a low profile 1/2 drive adapter. You will need a large pry bar and a long pipe to pry out the leveling screw.

Pros
  • Dope πŸ”₯
Cons
  • unreliable

Be sure to remove the plug before starting the engine.

This worked great for what I wanted to do. Stop the flex plate so I can remove the harmonic damper bolt. Just a warning. Always add a fuse to make sure you don't turn on the ignition while the stop is still in the flexplate. I pulled the key out and covered the ignition keyhole with tape to make sure I didn't try to turn the engine over, and then I cried because I'd worn out all the teeth on the flex plate because I forgot. A simple reminder can save thousands.

Pros
  • Few competitors
