Something is wrong with this batch. I've been using M&G for many years and their rum flavor has always been my favorite. When I ordered it from Revain it was clearly not rum, even though the bottle said 'rum'. It smelled and looked nothing like the smell of rum I was familiar with. I would attribute it to a recipe change, but it's more than that. It's not the same soap. It has a pungent lime scent and was acidic on my skin. I showered with him once and it literally hurt like bathing in alcohol.

I wanted to try it after I received a travel size sample from a hotel in New York. I'm not sure if what I got is real or fake but for the price it's better that it's real. Little did I know that hotels have a habit of giving away such expensive luxuries to guests for free. For some reason I was also tricked into believing that I usually buy an all natural soap like EveryMan Jack. Unfortunately, the third ingredient is sodium lauryl sulfate.

Like many others, I discovered and fell in love with this heavily scented shower gel after a stay in a luxury boutique hotel. The problem is quality control. Malin & Goetz seems to be fast producing many of their products and the quality of this rum shower lotion has suffered. They also reduced the strength of the spirit compared to the samples from the hotel. Like many other companies, they discount the quality and quantity of the product, but still at a higher price. I originally came across this brand because they use it at Flywheel Studios and I loved the scent but when I ordered it it was MUCH smaller than expected, and especially price for it. I also think if this brand is going to retail this premium they should do a lot better branding on the bottle itself as it's nothing fancy and doesn't even look pretty when displayed in my bathroom.
