Everything will be fine once I get used to it

I used to have one like this. This requires a different attitude towards soldering than I'm used to; But everything will be fine once I get used to it.

The temperature seems to fluctuate wildly. Likewise, .

The temperature seems to be fluctuating a bit. Also, the stick is so loose that it just falls off and is now misaligned. So you can only guess what temperature is set on the device - and yes, it still fluctuates. However, the iron heats up and melts the solder. does the job.
