    Effective but expensive.

This works well enough on my Olympus TG-5; especially in digital microscope mode. The adapter directs the focus LED into the macro ring. The camera flash cannot be used with the ring attached and the LED is not as bright as the flash. However, you can record videos at close range. As with the FD-1 Flash Diffuser, the price for multiple plastic parts welded together is quite high.

    Not the quality I expected

I was excited about this ring light adapter as I do a lot of macro photography both underwater and above, but I found the lighting was uneven and distorted . After several unsuccessful attempts I stopped using it. I noticed that this unit was redesigned for the latest TG-5 model, but for $50 each I don't want to risk this new model being what I expected from my original. to buy.

    Ineffective in lighting

I bought this OEM flash ring for extra close up (macro) photography on an Olympus TG-5. I figured it was worth paying a lot ($40 for a basic plastic reflector ring) for an OEM product designed for a specific TG camera series. glows evenly. The two attached shots (mosses) were taken in soft daylight. As you can see, the flash ring barely diffuses the light from the flash. If anything, it seems more intense and concentrated in the top left corner where the flash is located. I had to compare the…

You need it best in Lighting & Studio

It had no instructions how to put it on or activate it. It was easy to figure out how to attach (and very easy to put on and take off). It took a Google search to figure out how to set up the camera for use (turn on the LED in the camera settings, then set the flash for that guy). I would also like to know if it is waterproof, there was no indication that it was. It is good for macro photography of jewelry and precious stones. In macro photography, if you position the camera inches from the…

    Great little device, need instructions.

I like it. It turns out to be very easy to use. Following the instructions for the camera and light guide box I was able to figure out how to install and remove it. There is no manual or instructions of any kind as to which light to use. This refers to the flash or the LED focus assist lamp. Turns out you need to use a focus assist lamp. This is easy to set up in camera, but the light guide should come with some instructions on how to use it. Others have also asked if it can be used underwater.

    Macro Essential

This light guide has improved my macro so much I don't know if I could do without it. I'll let the images included in this review certify what this light guide is capable of. All images shown are taken in microscope mode, some of them use focus stacking. The first image shows the paper towel lying flat on the table and zoomed in with the camera literally resting on it. Without that light guide this image simply wouldn't be possible as it would be dark because the camera is in front of the…

    Great accessory for Olympus cameras!

To be honest I didn't know what to expect when I bought this accessory for my Olympus Tough camera but Revain offered to buy it based on what others had in addition to a Bought an Olympus camera. I was pleasantly surprised, but how much better does this light guide take pictures. Macro photos to be precise. This camera does a great job at macro photography and this light guide only improves the quality of the images. I have included photos of my engagement ring to show the difference. You can…

    Efficient ring light

I used this ring light on an Olympus TG-4 and it provides good, even illumination for close-up shots. Sometimes there is severe overexposure in some areas of the image, but this can usually be avoided with some camera movement. It's a pity that Olympus doesn't give decent instructions with light. It seems that this has helped avoid a lot of problems for some users. It seems that many of the bad reviews are due to users abusing the ring light. For example, some users leave the flash on, thinking
